Suprised there hasn't been a thread on this...
But yes, Apple put forward the release to the 28th:

I ordered mine through the Up to Date program back in June, so I got it for £7.95 as I just bought my MacBook Pro. Mine's been shipped this morning.

Same here, hopefully it'll be here tomorrow!
I had to do mine through snail mail as did many other people due to a problem with Apple's system, but they said they would ship it once they have taken the money out of my PayPal account which they did early this morning! :)

I've got it installed, it's a bit of a letdown..
I know they didn't promise any visual tweaks but wow.. this looks identical except quicktime x.
It doesn't even FEEL noticeably quicker, although I do like the new finder as transfer speeds are a bit quicker.
Dock Exposé is a good idea but not much use to me, stack improvements are nice and are something I'll use.
Overall I really think they could have just added a few more features to make it feel a bit.. different. I wish we were getting the level of improvements of Vista > W7.
As apple say, its a refinement not a revolution.

I may get it, but I'd be getting it for the sakes of it because may be going back to using a PC?

That 1 minute takes about 5 minutes really lmao
Ok, I'm going to order it. Do you have to upgrade or does it allow a clean install?
Jamesy

I think you can do that on the Disk Utility on the installer.

Apple said you need to upgrade, but people are saying that it will install to a clean HDD

Thats actually a nice price. 25 pounds is good compared to the 60 that Microsoft want for W7.

That's because it isn't a huge difference over Leopard

7 isn't exactly a huge difference over vista though is it?

Jumplists, new window management, far better resource management, XP Mode, IE8, New task bar grouping, new notification tray, etc etc, it's all good :P

Don't get me wrong - I preordered it myself!
XP mode is only on ultimate though isn't it? I was hoping to get it, but oh well :)
7 is vastly different to Vista. Snow Leopard is just a refinement. A bit like a service pack, which Microsoft give out for free?

I have tried the XP mode and I can tell you it's pretty crappy. It's exactly like a virtual machine you would normally install. So not worth the extra money.

Although it integrates into 7? :P

Hmmm, I haven't noticed a significant difference between it and leopard :P
in performance.

I wouldn't call it integration. It just shares hard drives and printers.

The only differences I have noticed since installing SL are that my boot and shutdown times are a bit quicker and visually, seems a bit bolder and brighter.

As I said don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of windows. Just gave what I thought :P
