Hey,
Could someone help me out here :P, I need to find a cheapish laptop for my friend that he can use to take to school and use for school work, browsing the web etc, he would also like to play a few older games on it like GTA Vice City, GTA 3, Halo, Quake 3.

wise move. i got my laptop from ebay for like £200 windows xp pro good memory and stuff but it had problem after problem. best buying a brand new one.

Echmaine laptops are ok? or if your wanting a good cheap one a lenonvo n200 Ive got one its got finger print scanner built in wirless and bluetooh and its like £200 - £300

Probably around £350ish? It doesn't need to be uber great, the graphics don't need to be fantastic to run those old games either.
Echmaine laptops are ok? or if your wanting a good cheap one a lenonvo n200 Ive got one its got finger print scanner built in wirless and bluetooh and its like £200 - £300
Emachines would be fine. Ill take a look at that Lenovo.

Your battery will be like 1 hour or less onit due to such a big screen it will like drain that battery and quick!

Sorry, usually im messing with Dell Latitudes, how about that Inspiron 17? :P

My mum has a Studio 17, they have WLED TFT screens so it hardly drains the power.
It has a 5 Cell battery so it goes for a good few hours.

Some of those are alrite, the tudio 15 is 475, pricey but will last your mate longer than a very very basic laptop would. Depends if he feels 125 pounds is worth spending now, comparedto the 300 pounds he will probably spend for a new one in two years :P

Well I dunno All I know is IBM Are super cheap Lenovo ( What I got ) are Brilliant and emachines are good caue ive got 2 of them as well.

That's an interesting proposition actually, those Studio 15s are fairly decent by the looks of it, ill have to have a chat with him :p

Compaq do some decent machines. Just avoid Acer. They're the worst PCs ever, after owning 4 of them.

To be fair, 1 was old (win 2k old), and another was 3 years old off eBay.
