My dad gave me his 32" HDTV shall I buy a HDMI cable or shall I stay with AV? What's the Differences? Are there cheap HDMI? Like £5 - £10?
HDMI is alot sharper and better
I can hardly play on SD nowadays due to the blurryness and whatnot
The quality differance is to die for, when I first played Skate 2 on 720p compared to the SD I was playing with.. It was amazing.
You can get a gold connector HDMI cable for £8 at Tesco.

I might get it, How metres minimum shall I get?
You only need a standard sized one really. Or use the HD compoment cables that you get with your Xbox, they're both just as good.

Id go with the HDMI cable, when i first played GTA 4 witht he HDMI cable i couldnt believe at how much better the graphics looked especially on a 42 inch TV with 1080p. and same goes for Assassins Creeed, brilliant game with the HDMI cable. AV just doesnt looks that clear compared to HDMI

Big difference. When my xbox breaks for a second time (apparently they send you a new console) I will have the Hdmi port :). I recommend buying the cable

I think the better question is, "Is there any point not getting a HDMI cable?"
HDMI over AV will be a massive improvement. Very cheap aswell, you don't need to pay for the expensive ones. I think I paid 5 pounds and mine works perfectly.
mine cost a few quid off ebay, you dont need any of these gold plated things what are £10-60 they just sound fancy

Mine was two or three quid off Play.com or Amazon but I lost it at my mates' house when I took my PS3 there for a party :eusa_wall.

Yeah, you've got to play on HD. No point in having an HD TV if you're just going to play in standard def.

Its hard to go back to SD after playing HD. Some games barely play well on SD, Battlefield 1943, for example is very hard to read in SD and on a small television (roll on Christmas).

WOW! I brought a 1.5m gold plated HDMI cable from asda for £7.47. The sharpness has greatly gone better. Which mode is best? 1080p etc.

720p - Is decent.
1080i - Is really used for movies, for a sharper picture etc.
1080p - Best quality! :D

You may not be able to get 1080p though. If you select it and suddenly your screen goes ultra blurry, turn it back to 1080i. I have a 28 inch HDTV and it can do 1080i max.

Well, My TV only supports 720p and 1080i but when I go into a game the TV goes into 720p

Quoted for truth. Expensive HDMI cables are a rip off and are pointless. Never ever buy one.

Okay, do this:
Go to Settings - go down to Display Settings, then Video Output Settings - HDMI - Custom - then tick 1080i ONLY (570 is default), and there you go. For non HD games, you will need to go back to this and select 720p.

Thanks! Do I do anything on the audio or shall I leave as automatic.

Set that to HDMI as well. Then you're sorted. Obviously most games are HD, but if you happen to play one that is still in SD, for a random example, SmackDown vs. RAW 2009 (check your game case if you're unsure), you must remember to go back to Display Settings, untick 1080i and tick 720p only, otherwise your game graphics will be super sketchy! ;)

Ah, Most of my games are 720p. That's sad. Is their a list to see which games are in 1080p or so?
