This is something I do not understand. After seeing how well the Summer Spectacular went why doesn't habbox do campaigns like this more often? I know it takes alot of planning but It can be done easily if all the habbox staff work together.
These campaigns seem to gain alot of publicity and the habbox community enjoy them, so why not do more? I know for a fact that habbox gets enough donations to do more campaigns.

Because how many times of year is there a period where people have the ability to run and attend events 12-9 for 14 days? :P

We do other big events, not QUITE to the scale of HxSS because theres never as good a time as HxSS as holidays don't always match up.

However there is the Christmas Bonanza the Halloween festivities, Easter Eggstravaganze, usually something in late February that I forget what we call but its during that break.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it :)

They'd get repetitive and everyone will be like "oh another one? :$"
Best to keep them at certain points in the calendar imo :)

Reading http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=600583 might answer your question :)

in that thread he says you should do cooler things like apprentice, which is right! Take a look at Hababble.com they have non-stop campaigns and that is why they are growing in popularity!

I do agree that we should do more 'big'events, but as was said in the other thread, things that have already been done by someone else wouldn't be as effective as something unique, but thinking of that something unique is quite hard. MissAlice mentioned an olympics idea which I think is pretty good and wouldn't be the usual falling furni etc as the diving in the lido (if it's still there) could be incorporated aswell.

Something I used to like doing on other sites when i played habbo was quests, like trying to find something that had gone missing but I can't remember the last time Habbox did one of these, if ever. However, it would take a long time to create and also quite expensive to make it look good, then there's the prize aswell. Last october I did a haunted house type series of events to win the room worth 150hcs and just added a twist on some of the popular games, maybe that could be done a little more in some of the events too.

If Hx did so many of these big events it'd get tiresom. Other fansites will eventually run out of ideas and will be at a stand still.

With habbox, we do regular big events that top most other little events hosted by other fansites. The ammount we have now is right, you also have to think about staff. I know myself that after hxSS i was a bit tired of running events and its a bit unfair that you say you want more? Almost every holiday theres smoething going on and I think we've got it right

It's not like we need to do one every week, once a year would suffice.

I wasn't saying there weren't enough 'big' events, but essentially they're just made up of lots of little events and yes, most by other sites are aswell. Although we do stand out with the HxSS because of the points system aswell, something similar could be put into the Olympics idea if it goes ahead. As for your tiredness, that's ebcause the HxSS events are 12-9 or something every day, whereas not all other 'big' events have to be done like this, they could just be one or two events a day, or if a quest was created then no one would really have to be there to run it once it was up.

once again I'll use the habbable example, what they do is when they do a campaign they have maybe one thing every one/two days. this may be a Quest, an event or a competition ran by the competition staff. The competitions are usually simple and fun something like create a habbo fashion range, that takes 5 minutes and the people who enter will keep checking back to see if they won that particular comp.

Competitions Staff constantly post competitions throughout the month. As for Quests, well, the comps department is going to take that little burden off the events department for this month as we have a forum quest planned for the middle of the month. Keep your eyes peeled! :D

The HxSS has just closed, let's give the events organisers a little breather before they're all back to work!

why would people get bored of Big events? you only need to host say one apprentice a year.. How will people get bored of that and not get bored of Falling Furni 5 times a week?

Hababble is a different userbase than Habbox is. As a new and growing fansite, Hababble has a smaller group of users that are more closely tied in to the forum. That means they will take part in virtually anything. Experience shows, however, that a smaller percentage of HxF users dedicate themselves to a long-term competition which requires you to enter each round etc. That's why the HxSS is nice because you don't HAVE to be there for every event, you come when you can.

The reason for this is the primary reason Habbox users use the site and forum is for what we provide on a day-to-day basis. The Competitions and Events are a big thing for some, but for most they're just additional fun things.

The REALLY big thing the HxSS and Christmas things are for (and all the events) are to bring in new users and introduce them to Habbox. Once they're here, they usually stay for the content, not just the events.

We have tried bigger events like Big Brother before and they simply don't pan out because with the number of users number of forums and number of posts, its much easier to miss things (case proved by Prof-Alex missing the HxSS even though it was the top thread in announcements for two days :P). With Hababble its a smaller forum where you can view every new post on the forum in under an hour (well I'm guesstimating here, I don't actually use the forum but its what I've heard.)

I'm not saying we don't want to do big events - we do. But with a different userbase, we have to structure them differently (ie: something that people can all take part in but don't HAVE to show up for) which is why we do things like HxSS, B@S, Halloween Something, Christmas Bonanza, the thing over February Break, Easter Eggstravaganza, etc. etc.
