5 Thieves manage to rob an Apple Store of 23 MacBook Pros, 14 iPhones and 9 iPod touches in 31 seconds. You can't help but feel slightly impressed :P

CCTV Footage included: http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/03/video-crooks-clean-out-new-jersey-apple-store-in-31-impressive

OMG that's amazing! I love how that website says;

Look, we aren't trying to glamorize crime or anything, but this is the stuff GTA heists are made of. Head on past the break for a look at the video, and please, don't try to replicate this at your nearest Apple store (without wearing a head-mounted camcorder and hooking us up with the footage, of course).

:P I'd like to know what they smashed the glass with.

I also love how the news report seems to glamorise it a little bit. Generally I much prefer how American news is presented rather than UK.

Did they steal the till? I couldnt find one in the Sheffield apple store lol.

That'll be easy to solve, find out if anyone has ordered x amount of MacBook Pro power cables and iPhone charges :P Pretty impressive though, but then again, a glass panel is a terrible form of security.

I wouldn't mind doing the same thing! 31 seconds is pretty quick.. No alarms went off, which is strange.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Sq Guard had something to do with it.

But who cares anyway? APPLE don't care... they are insured!

They're right at the back, but the sales assistants use their little things to take payments too.

Yeah, surprised they don't cover the glass with metal door thingies like most other shops, and the fact that no alarms went off.

@ Marky21 -- No point in stealing tills, generally shops empty them and put them in safes overnight.

i think this a guiness world record? 31 seconds $75k and all that stuff, they should do it more often. could shave about 3 seconds off the time

Anyway, i don't think Apple care lol. They are getting everything back without having to pay a penny.

How dare they pick up mbp's like that... at least treat them with respect!!!

Those thieves won't ever be caught.

and it's much heavier than a stack of Macbook Airs :D. I know they're not losing out but having the lightest notebooks on the market is their own undoing :P.

Thats why no iMacs were stolen then. Too heavy to carry?

Surprising that they didnt try and take a Mac Mini? Other than the wires, should be easy to take, right?

MacMini's aren't expensive to be worth stealing from an A store.

saw this in the morning before I headed to school, was pretty impressed. was either an inside job (or someone from the inside hooked them up with some details) or some people who spend wayyyy too much time in the Apple Store (or its an Oceans Eleven type scenario where they built their own store haha)

I vote for the Ocean's idea! :O

It's a film where a gang of pro thieves build a scale replica of a casino's vault (in a warehouse across the street :P) and plan out and practice getting in to steal millions of dollars. Great film, surprised you haven't heard of it actually.

Tbh this isn't much of a mastermind type thing, all they had to work on was a quick and effective way to break the plate glass. Other than that it's just assigning each man to a row to sweep. Maybe they spent a couple minutes planning the best method of carrying the most stuff as well.

I think the guard had something to do with it lol.

He was meant to be guarding the crown jewels and he was caught dossing!

they knew what they where doing, you have to remember in the Apple Stores the Macbooks etc. are only connected to the power supply, which is magnetic, simple pick and grab, no issues of attaching them to the table top or anything, same as the iPhone's and iPod Touch's, ok it was obviously a little planned, but the way the store is set up is linear and only needs very little time to grab one item as it just pulls out/away.
