It looks like someones copy and pasted that on there but regardless of that I don't know what it is. It certainly does nothing for the look of the car.

i don't like it, it makes the car look like it has some sort of massive mono-brow :S lol

Nah, it's real.
It's like someone has put wallpaper on the car, then rolled it down. :S

It's a Bonnet Bra, to protect from stone chips, are popular in the US and in Euro-VAGs.
EDIT: Hence why the file name includes "Bonnet Bra" >.>

They are called Bra's and they are no longer popular over here because the hardware rusted and damaged the paint, dirt got under the bra and scratched the paint and nobody really cares about their cars over here anyway, and if they do 3M makes a clear bra that works a charm.
bonnet bras, as said they're to protect the front of the bonnet especially in winter months from the likes of stone chips etc etc, people also use them to get 'the look' although you can only pull it off in some cars.. they're quite popular among the vag community but they're spreading to other makes like the rest of the euro scene has.
it's reccomended that you take them off each time you wash the car and dust it off and clean underneath it to avoid any damage.

Thanks TDI, maybe you can explain to me why there is a look called the ''Euro look'' too? lol
the 'euro look' is all about smooth/clean/oem+ cars rocking small, wide wheels with usually stretched tyres and a killer stance.. it's mainly done on small cars but it's also a term given to larger cars, like for example a lupo/polo is more the original 'euro look' but then you get golf mk4/mk5, bora, passat etc with the same look..
on the larger cars it's still small + fat wheels, as smaller wheels will make the car lower.. 18's were what you used to see on most mk4's but the best stance can now be achieved with 17s, same goes for the mk5s etc, but the likes of smaller wheels on any car has to be combined with a big drop to minimise arch gap (which looks horrible!)
you usually use coilovers but if you're a ***** and don't like hitting the floor alot (it's fun, honestly) then you can get air ride, it's expensive but if you've got the money to do it you can get a really nice drop.
wider wheels which extrude the arches, you'll need strech and usually rolled arches so it doesn't rub on the tyres.
wheels from different manufacturers are also put on the cars, the likes of porsche/bmw/merceds/bentley etc wheels.

They seem pointless to me. A few inches of your bonnet is protected, meanwhile the rest of the bonnet, lights, grill, bumper and windscreen are all exposed as normal.
