A former BBC television presenter who hit a teenager with a 3ft wooden pole in a fight outside a West Midlands bar has been jailed for two years.
Ashley Blake was found guilty of wounding Greg Jones, 17, and intending to pervert the course of justice.
Blake, 40, who presented Midlands Today, was sacked following his conviction at Birmingham Crown Court.
He had denied January's attack outside The Place 2B restaurant in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.
Jurors heard he swung a patio umbrella pole above his head, hitting the teenager in the face.

The 17 year old shouldnt of been drinking or in there, and if I was him I would of done the same.

Just a quick look, it was watchdog I think. Oh and, BBC London news, ITV London Tonight, BBC Breakfast, BBC Midlands Today, Children In Need. All but only just as a reporter.

LOL. Ye Ashley Blake. He use to present Midlands Today.
If you'd seen him on TV you wouldn't thought he was that type of bloke who would go around hitting people. :P

Does make me wonder how a 17 year old got into the club. If it was hired then it might be a possibility, but they were letting anyone in by the looks of things :S

Yeah he lost his job over it
Yeah he lost his job over it
goes without saying. I recognize the face but wouldn't say i see him constantly on TV. Shame really that they were letting anyone in but you still shouldn't hit someone LOL
You never expect these people to do this kind of thing. His television career is almost certainly ruined.

You would've hit a 17 year old in the face, leaving a permanent scar just because he was drinking at an 18th birthday party?

He dosent look vicious at all.
Who started the fight?
If it was the teen in question, then the presenter had every right to defend himself but then again, British 'justice' doesn't seem to allow you protecting yourself/and/or others.

I have actually have seen this guy a lot on TV on Midlands Today mostly. Shame hes going for two years... I know many teenagers who are just as bad and only get a slap on the wrist compared to this punishment. Then again, he shouldn't have done it and it is very unexpected. His career is over, I wonder what he will do once he's released?

Yeah, but the teenager isn't losing his job, career, and some of his life over it. I'm sure the teenager must of done something to aggrevate him after all he doesen't look like the hooligan type and secondly he wouldn't be on TV if he was a Dumb Chav.
