Do any insurance companies give good courtesy cars, as yesterday my mum got her courtesy car after an accident, and it was a Fiat Panda HAHA, and its just terrible, i just wondering, do any give like nice fords or astras or something?

Also she made me go out in the car with here, i swear its like riding a fridge.

Depends what you trash, speaking from little experiance, i dunno really due to the fact we never have cars older then 3 years old (Main Dealer warrenty, for BMW's anyway) they generally give you what you ask for if you smash something up, ie my dad just cracked an alloy on his M5 and got a Z4 for the weekend.

Anyway, I digress. No, insurance companies want as much money as they can, giving you an expensive car after you just had an accident wouldn't be in their interests.

Yeh, i was thinking that, they wouldnt spend loads of cars which they are just gonna lend out for a bit.

I was gutted i wanted her to get a smart car.

Over here if you have an accident the insurance company contracts out the loaner car to a rental agency such as Enterprise or Budget. I have dealt with Enterprise always except for when I rented a 2008 Ford Edge from Budget in Florida this winter. If you smash your car you get a car that is of comparable size to your old one. If I were to smash my Accord I would get an Impala or G6, maybe an Altima if I'm lucky. I notice Enterprise deals with GM, Nissan, Kia, Hyundai and SOMETIMES Toyota. If I smashed a van, I would get a van, if I smashed the Highlander it would get an SUV. Over here you don't smash a Rio and get a Navigator like you used to.

When my car goes in for servicing I get a loaner car, usually an Accord or Civic from their used lot, works out great for me! If the Mercedes is in they usually give us something swanky to drive in because they can. Last time it was in they gave mom a 2006 S600, different body style than the S550 we have now but the V12 was worth it.

You can argue with them and say, this car isn't even close to my old one, I want something better, I don't feel safe, blah blah blah and they may budge, but chances are you'll get "it's either the Panda or NOTHING"!!!!

Ha, i don't mind, i find it funny she has to go to work in it, and maybe she only got a Panda, as its only in for 2 days, as it was a small dint and scratches.

they usually give you a car which is the same sort of size/power as the one which it is replacing.. like for example, you can't write off a touran and get a micra, as it wouldn't work. if you're really not happy with the car in some cases you can go back and ask to change it for something a little more suitable.

Correct.

Plus, you've just crashed your own car. They arent going to trust you with an expensive one, are they?
