My parents recently informed me that they had asked someone about computers and bought one for my 18th. Thing is, I'm not to sure if the specs are good. Here's a list:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Processor (2.5GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 6MB Cache) Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium (http://javascript:showEditorial('Genuine-Windows');)
4GB Memory

1TB Hard Drive

Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD Re-Writer
1024MB nVidia GeForce 9800 GT
Built-in Digital TV Tuner
15-in-1 Card Reader
6 USB connections
Now I knowI should get the RAM upgraded to 6 or maybe 8GB as I plan to game/edit movies for my media studies on it. Other than that, any good?

Also, anyone know where to get a cheap HD monitor?

It's very nice, and I reckon you'd be fine with 4GB tbh.

If it's to expensive to get a 6/8GB, I'll probably stick with it untill next year, as I need the money for the monitor.

You'll want either 4GB or 8GB. 6GB wont run in dual channel.

The PC is reasonable. 4Gb will be plenty for a while.

You can't really rate it unless you know the price.

I've decided to stick with 4GB for the time anyway, thanks for the info though, I didn't know.

It was £650 with 1 years antivirus. I don't mind the price aslong as it runs my games well.

You can get 8GB for about £800

Or about £500 for refurbished ones.

That's very expensive. Does it come with a monitor?

Yes, but it's not HD. That's why I want a HD monitor.
As I said, I don't mind the price. It's a birthday gift, aslong as it runs my games, it suits me.

I bought a 8gb ram computer from erm, currys, comet or something, a refurbished one, for £500

I'm talking about the ram itself, not an entire computer.

What size is the monitor that comes with it?

Well, technically it should be HD, but only 720p. I suppose your looking for 1080p? (full HD)

In that case you should be looking at 24"+

My 23" is more than full HD (2048x1152)

Yeah, full HD. I may just use the monitor that comes with it, because I'm having trouble finding a cheap 1080p monitor.

Which one do you reckon would be best? I'm tempted to get the ebuyer one, it's cheap but it sounds good.
