Ever realised this?

I have only just remembered about this, a thread asking what name he should use reminded me. Why is it that people on Habbo bum words that mean something so much? Like names such as "Cyclings" "Usables" "Fridges" "Communicates" etc. Do you get what I mean? They are names that either sound like they mean something but are spelt wrong and do not mean anything or a word that means something but is like ok then...? My old Habbo username is also a good example "Knowed" like why the hell would I want to be called that on a site I use to use for socialising? I really am baffled. The only thing I can think of is people wanting to look "1337" and it might even make them feel as if they will get a bit famous on Habbo. It just really is sad, and what's even sadder is that people who come to use Habbo and just choose a normal name like "Hollie2184" they straight away get called a noob. I mean you wouldn't have a name such as "Experting" on a site that your real life friends go on, they would just say "what the hell are you doing?". I don't know why I had a name like that, didn't think anything of it tbh.

What are your views on this?

you've got a valid point but alot of people here i guess don't sue habbo for so much socilising with real life freinds i don't. so im fine with random names i personally think there inovative.

the reason numbers are classed as "noobish" is because people class them as unoriginal.

an instance is on xbox 360, im called Mr. Flibble which everyone thinks is cool and intresting whereas my freind is called blackwolf050 but isn't conciderd as cool because he couldn't think fo a name without numbers it's almost a form of copying people assume. but for social networks i always use my real name.

you're blind not to have seen this point, a socialising site is a way to get away from life and chill with other people your age, names such as knowed are names picked up just like hero names in marvel storys, you make them to hide behind, you tell the people you trust, other people will get to know you by your chosen name but not know the real you which for some people, like me, is a load off my chest as i wouldn't want to have named myself my proper name and a randomer from where i live go "bahaha i heard you play habbo!" although my friends know i play i wouldn't boast about it.

and you can hide many secrets behind a random name which in my case i would probaly put down as my past as i hated it and hate looking back on it, so basically, its not to look "1337" which tbf was a **** thing to bring up in this rant as 1337 is for hardcore gamers not hardcore socialisers.

I partially agree with you. People actually pay for accounts that stand out from the crowd, I know there aren't many names left but if they just wanted an account name to hide behind they wouldn't buy one, just make one.

I think people also make names because it sounds good, I mean, i made Blinger because it sounded good and it could represent me (i might own a lot of "bling" ;))

When I started, I always seemed to try and make a name similar to my real name for some reason, hence why they generally all have had 'Rob' in :P and 'Robald' is made up of part of my first name (obviously) and part of my last name. Since then however, I've noticed the point made in this thread but I've always thought cool names were the shortest but not necessarily those that were real words. Then again, I don't like ones that are just random letters; the best ones are ones which are made up words that still sound nice.

I think the main thing about it is, if in your head you say it as a single word, it's better than if if you have to spell it. For example, I once knew someone called 'Tleftye', and at the start I always forgot what his name was because it's not really a word (not one that's easily said anyway), so I only remembered the name once I learned how to spell it. The fansite 'Puhekupla' is a similar example. I still never remember how to spell that so I've added it to my Chrome's spell-checker dictionary :P.

I remember tleftye, i have no idea where that came from. My habbo name originated from my imagination, so it says alot about me I guess. I think people do it just because not having symbols or numbers in your name is apparently leet and makes you look like you're original.

Originality is something which Habbos thrive towards. But then so do teenagers who shop at Topshop & Jack Wills. It just doesn't work, adding an s or something which contains a word but isnt actually a world in the dictionary, isn't cool. I don't see why people do it... but they do. For originality I guess. Topshop originality, lolz.

puhekupla is dutch/finnish for something i forgot now.

and i also started with names such as spencer-2k6 but if you remember the first few years on habbo you e-date, so turning away from that path to fit in takes as much as having no similarities to that name as possible.

Because people in habbo are extremely ignorant and although they would talk to someone called 'Dipstick' or 'DooDar' they would probably refuse to talk to someone called Dave202847 :) that is why people strive towards the most original single name possible. My name is purely to do with my previous history and such and such :) It has nothing to do with wanting to be 'cool'. I have better things to do with my time :)
