There are three switches downstairs. Each corresponds to one of the three light bulbs in the attic. You can turn the switches on and off and leave them in any position.
How would you identify which switch corresponds to which light bulb, if you are only allowed one trip upstairs?
? :)

I would leave 2 on and then turn one off after a bit and then go upstairs and feel which one was warm out of the 2 that are off and then I would no :D

i just typed a really long answer then saw a huge flaw, mhmm.
i think i'd just turn the middle switch on and hope the middle light comes on and then guess that the left switch turns on the light to the left of the centre one which i turned on

we learnt this riddle in year 6 8D
ok turn the first switch on for 30 mins
turn it off
turn the second one on and go to the attic
touch all of the lights
if one of them is hot, it is the 1st switch
if it is on, it is the second one
if it is off and cold, it is the 3rd switch
:D

flip 1 & 2 on, then after a few mins flip two off. number one will still be lit up, number two will be warm, and number 3 wouldnt have any heat at all

Turn switch A on and then wait for a couple minutes.
Turn switch A off and switch B on.
Go to the attic, one light bulb should be on, that's switch B.
Now feel the light bulbs, one should still be warm from having been turned on and then off, that's switch A.
The one that's off and cool is switch C.

Or...
Go up, get a video recorder, thhen wire a cable down the stairs to some kind of monitor, then turn one on and then look at the monitor and mark down which one came on, then repeat with the other two switchs and write down which ones come up.
Tada, so easy.

If I'm only allowed to go upstairs once there's no reason for me to care which is which I'll just flip them all when I do go up there
