haha, ive been using this proxy and so have my mates, at school. Then my mate had IT and the teacher said 'the server is down, probably something to do with a proxy by the sounds of it.' Looks like we crashed the server, also, we saw some guys fixing it haha (a cable box thingy)

Is this possible or isit just aload of crap?

Most schools run their servers through proxies, so that was probably the problem, not the dictionary proxy. You'll find that most computers in the school have the same IP if you search 'My IP address' on Google, maybe one, two or three different ones, because there may be more than one proxy they're running the servers through.

Cheers mate,
+Rep this will be really handy, however my I.T teacher is an idiot so its easily to access blocked websites, i was bored so i made loads of cmd files called virus40345 and he kicked me out of class because he thought I was creating virus's on the school computers, when he double clicked the cmd file it came up with "trojen horse" about 50times i added that for the lols (fake). Sadly i don't think he will let me back in his class because he finds me a threat lol.

You are a genius? like other people didn't know this.

I'm also hosting it, which takes up alot of bandwidth, as I'm sure you are aware proxys do so.

I'm also running the risk of getting shut down by glype, by removing there logo (which wasn't easy to do)

and last but not least, I'm running this service as a contribution, I don't have any annoying ads on it, and I pay the server bills myself.

keep your negitive comments to yourself, and if you don't want to use it, don't post in the thread? simples?

How much bandwidth would it take up if 5-10 people are using it at school?

just basic web browsing..?

youve got to think that its recieving data from you, then calling on the website you put in, downloading the files, and giving an output. all a normal site does is give images and text.

unless im mistaken lol

Very Creative idea(i probably wouldn't have thought of this idea

Not trying to steal spotlight/use of ur site

But if anyone needs to use it while he's down i've set it up at
a subdomain on my site

http://p.sunbursttech.com

I Have Unlimited Bandwidth so im not worried(and yes i'm aware usually there's a cap but i guess we'll find out what that is)

Like i said not trying to steal any visits from you just putting it here so that people can use your script while your site is down

What you ought to do with your Script to make it More convincing AND useful is integrate a actual dictionary : P
It shouldn't be hard to implement actually,i know that there's alot of sites that do api and all that probably would be a dictionary then it would be a simple PHP if statement
like

if http://
(Proxy Script)

if www.
(proxy Script)

else
(Search Dictionary)

And Yes that is a VERY rough outline of what it would be it would be quite different just saying roughly how it would look : P

Kevin

I've copied the files to another Directory, which might help people whos proxy has been blocked:

it is now available at 2 locations:

www.clubteen.co.uk/search

makes it more like a dictionary, LOL :P

Also, perhaps you could just put something like 'Most searched word this week:' and just replace it with a random word each week :P

What the heck is wrong with Habbox.. you guys are really easily impressed now-days.

I haven't been on here in quite a while, and you guys are giving credit to this guy for changing a few words, removing a logo, and some text?

Maybe if he actually incorporated some sort of "smart modification" to the script, that could actually look up a word when you wanted it to.. that would be great, unique, and it would be worth praising.

But typing "dictionary" and "search" onto Glype, removing a logo, and everyone treating him like a god is kind of sad.

So, why don't you make something halfway functional with it..

<?php
$query = $_POST["query"];

$check = explode("http", $query);
$check = count($check);

if($count > 1) {
// do proxy.
} else {
header("Redirect: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/{$query}");
}
?>

Or something like that.

Hi Caleb, the person who saved all the passwords in plaintext on tehupload and SoM in an attempt to hack people.

I'm not looking for credit for this, and tbh I was only giving it out as a contribution. this does take up alot of bandwidth though, and I'd like you to offer a service like this one for free (which doesn't trick users) be my guest

That's not all you said in your post, you went on about how useless this is and what a piece of edited crap it is. ( do you think I dont know it's only a couple of words changed, and some editing for the logo to be removed?)

you also did not deny your attempts in hacking many members.

I've denied it so many times, there is no point in denying it anymore.

I never said it was a piece of edited crap, quit mixing my word around. I was saying that what you did wasn't that much work, and people are praising you like crazy. They should praise you more if you put more time into it.. and make it into something unique and usable to an extent.

Naw, it's blocked at mine. Tested it a few days ago.
I think it's blocked because of the Club Teen bit or something.

Has anyone considered running a proxy off one of those little USB webserver things? That seems to be the best way to avoid the filters and whatnot.

I didnt know the phrase "case closed" was copyrighted to judges only.

People were prasing me because I'm offering this as a free service, and wasting my personal bandwidth for others without flooding them with advertisements. I'm doing this as a contribution, and that is why people were thanking me.

It's nothing to do with the few words I edited, I think that is where you misunderstood my point.

As I've said, countless times before. I did not make this thread to be thanked, I made it to contribute. sure what does "Thanks" mean in real life from habboxforum, I'll answer it for you Nothing.

If you don't want to use it mate, that's your choice. but there is no need to come into this thread acting like a boss.

As I've said before, I'm well aware your a talented coder, but that is not what this is about.

Learn to spell properlly. Seriously.

Your grammar is wrong, what you should have said was ''Learn to spell correctly, seriously."

And for your information - I didn't spell anything wrong.

I think you should learn to spell correctly, its ironic really, because you spelt 'properlly' wrong, it's properly.

Ohhhh the irony!! :rolleyes:
