The MacBook Air is the most overpriced thing on this planet, seriously.

<must refrain from calling it the worst piece of equipment ever> :(

The price is terrible. You're literally buying unjustified hype when buying a MacBook Air. As people keep suggesting when it comes to a DVD drive "Use an iMac / MacBook / Macbook Pro / Mac Mini to access CDs and DVDs". Errr, no? Why buy more stuff for something that already cost alot? :S It's possibly one of Apple's worst creations :/ It's not "ultra portable", it's "portable" just like every other modern day laptop. They're selling on a false premise.

Expensive, stupid piece of tat

</rant> :P

For someone like me it's the perfect laptop. I haven't used a CD/DVD with my laptop for at least 2 years now. If you need a portable, good looking, easy-to-use laptop then yes it's a good choice.

Otherwise, just get the Macbook Pro or a non-Mac laptop.

And the money spent on it justifies the lack of features? All laptops are portable, it's in their nature :S So the MacBook Air being based on portability is a load of horse manure, when every MacBook on the market is portable anyway...

You say lack of features, but it doesn't effect me as I don't require the stuff left out. I'd rather them take it out and make the laptop a hell of a lot smaller than just keep it in the machine. If I did want the features I'd just get a MB Pro, simples.

The MB Air is a lot more portable than most laptops on the market because of one simple reason: it's thinner. You simply can't argue it's not more portable.

When I go home I struggle to fit my laptop in my suitcase, if I had a MB Air, I wouldn't have any issues :)

It's not "more" portable - it's thinner - that doesn't make it more portable. Width is the key word here, not depth. If anything, the MacBook Air is less portable! Being thinner it's like holding a few pieces of card rather than a bulk, making there less to hold onto in transportation. It is a terrible marketing ploy, when something labelled "ultra-portable" like the MacBook Air was when it was first labelled is less portable than something like a netbook, which wipes the floor with the Air in terms of portability :/

EDIT: I see Apple have removed any mention of "The MacBook Air being the world's thinnest laptop/notebook" :P

It is also a lot slower than traditional MacBooks, just get a MacBook Pro or MacBook.
