Probably internal application and then interview.
You may have to apply via a website which you will get the information about this year and then you will be accepted to go in for an interview etc.

Pretty easy, seeing as your an existing student too.
I am a boy and I go to a mixed 6th form in an all girls school. My interview was quiet easy, I just had to tell them what I wanted to do for my subjects and my career aspirations etc. Thats basically it and a few other things and then I got in. They will know what you are like so will be pips for you.

eww, my head of year hates me so much.

if the interviews are with the 6th form heads then i should be ok, had one as a physics teacher for 3 years

It usually consists of a written application along with a short 'interview' which in reality is just a chat about your subject choices and if you wish to change them.

your school will tell you. i just had a simple application and was in. no interviews or anything.

We had to do a form and list our three choices, and I got an interview for them all, I only attended the interview for the school I was already at since they'll let you into the sixth form 100% assuming you get the grades, and I got all A*s, As and ** so had nothing to worry about. It was a very informal interview at my college since we already knew the staff and such.

For our sixth form we just did an application form, they only interviewed us if they thought we might struggle.

I didn't even have to apply. I got the grades so I was allowed straight in without an application form/interview e/c/t. Just ask your school. Although most people did stay at the school. I'd say about 15-20 people left from 150 in our year and 15-20 new people came in.

im guessing we'll get told pretty soon anyway.
what time of the year do we start applying? or does that vary?

Yeap. I don't know if my parents had to sign anything but I just turned up and carried on. I guess my school works the other way, if your leaving, that's when you tell the school, not if your staying.

how did you tell them what subjects you were doing and stuff? wasn't there even a form or did you just tell them on the first day?

Oh yeah, they asked us to write down 5 subjects we were thinking about taking in the middle of the GCSE year, and then when we went back in September they gave us our top 4 choices and said if you want to swap you can. So I never filled out a proper form, and never actually said the 4 subjects I wanted to do.
