Zombie Survival Thread...

Yeh, if a zombie appocalypse ever did happen, what would your plan be?
Oh and by zombies, I mean zombies which walk slow, not like the ones from dawn of the dead.

My plan would be to recruit about 5 members of my family and 4 friends. Obtain weapons, any weapons possible e.g Rakes, baseball bats, hammers... anything. Steal a Big Van, Raid a shop for supplies and camp out in a school which has a lot of security. Also I would stock a lot of tinned food incase it took a while, and also I would secretly kit out a room, perfect for the survival of just ME incase the virus spread into our gorup.

I would then try with the help of my dad,grandad and my friends kit out the van like on dawn of the dead, but obviously better. This would make it perfect for doing raids on shops when we are running low on supplies. After a while I would consider on getting to a boat, I know this is like dawn of the dead, but this is actually what id try and do. On the boat i would have all the esentials for fishing, and take alot of bottled water with me. This would let us last about 1-2 years, by then the infection would probably be stoped

I reckon this would actually work aslong as you kept the groups small, Larger groups = Higher chanches of someone getting infected.

i don't see the point in preparation for your version of slowly walking, chanting "brainnnnssssss" zombies, but yes I've planed for this event. This was developed for Remero's zombies.
1) Find yourself a fort, I will be using this (http://www.crystalinks.com/house507a.jpg).
2) Find yourself some Zombie Repellent (Weapons).
3) After the Zombie out break is over, rebuild society in your image.

May I ask why you're taking so many people? Who's obviously going to take leadership and who will be a hero?

Get a few strong and able people and build a long wall at the base around a nearby hill, really high, really tough, stupid slow-zombie proof. Then dig a ditch on our side 20 feet deep, so IF one gets over, He simply falls to his death or can't climb out and starves...
I'd then establish a community on the hill and watch the rest of the human race die and from our raised vantage point, we can keep an eye on the zombie rise!

2. Let's walk up 68 flights of stairs to the top floor of a block of flats, get on to the emergency roof, and jump off.

CBA to fight zombies to be honest. It depends what zombies, if they were Shaun of the Dead zombies, I'd have fun with them and just drive around smashing them into pieces or clubbing them with a golf club, but if they're Dawn of the Dead zombies, I'll stick to my plan kthx

I'd be filling as many jerry cans with petrol that can fit inside my car, acquire just a handgun or something small and just driveeeeeeeee! :P

We would be self sufficient on our hill! Growing our own crops, establishing outward facing battlements should the need arise. There's trees and what not so we can construct buildings, no sweat man! What are you gonna do when your ammo runs out? All the food will be rotten by then!

Sorry, maybe you could fit this much on a MOUNTAIN but not a hill. Where will you get your water, where will you dispose of your waste? How could you possibley grow crops on any normal sized hill, not to mention gather water, seeds, etc for it. You'll need meat too. 1 kg of spinach is equal to 10 grams of steak.

What? Just go out and steal a van? Remember, if there were complete chaos in society the real problem would be other people... not the zombies. People would be at eachothers throats for supplies and important tools. You try and steal someones van... they kill you.

Oh, so you're assuming that the other human survivors won't think of this? That's the first thing people will do, rush off to get supplies. Now unless you live right next to your shopping center then you're screwed.

The school... aswell would be a problem. Large and filled with people. Also many others would go for this area. Now even if you were able to get in first, others would attempt to break in as it is a safety location. Leaving you vulnerable. Also, why would you chose a school? Schools are only big in populated areas which are horrible choices to hide when majority of that population turning into zombies.

Invest in a purifier next time. Furthermore. If let's say a zombie virus spread then there would be billions of people infected. Now, let's make the assumption that you're not the only survivor and people DID start to turn around the apocolypse... it would take hundreds of years to rid of billions of zombies... not a few years. You need a more stable and self sufficient plan other than "Grab some supplies and move to the ocean".

You go to the supermarket and there's hundreds of other people there, some slightly infected. One bites you on the neck while you're grabbing the last few set of tinned beans (because that's all that's left). You die a few hours later.

You're Right on this one, A school would be the popular choice for many people, maybe it's a bad deccesion.

Good Idea, Scrap the bottled water plan, I'd locate and steal a purifier by ANY means.
Also think about it, Zombies need to eat to, It would probably take a zombie 2 weeks to starve, I think that about about 5 billion people would end up a zombie, I think it would take a MAXIMUM of 10 years for ALL the zombies to starve, I'm Pretty sure that with a water purifier, and fishing equipment, I could quite happily live on a boat for 10 years. Afterall, How are zombies gonna get to a boat which is in the middle of the sea.

About supplies, I live right next to a FEW different shops, Would'nt take a minute to get to ANY of them, so I'm sure i'd be able to get a good few supplies for this say, 1 month.

A month would be a good start but not so much a practical one. I know the first reaction would be to set out some short term goals before thinking too far ahead but the most ideal time to source for food would be at the very first stages of the Zombie attack, wouldn't it? That short amount of time where people are unsure what's going on. Living next to a few stores would come in handy mind you.

Ah, but that's making the assumption that all zombies are infected in a steady time period, and making the assumption that the UNDEAD do from starvation... and that they can't eat other forms of brains/meat.

10 years is a seriously long amount of time to spend out on sea. Now the ocean being a self efficent food supply/water supply would be perfect... the location would be unreachable. Hell, you could even pull up to prior deserted islands for land.

My main question would be the type of boat. Maintaining even the smallest of boats would be a hassle, let alone one that would maintain life for 10 years (assuming you don't dock somewhere deserted as an ownership thing).

Naturally I assume you would, even if it wasn't your main intention, finding inhabited land would be quite ideal, and in the middle of the ocean it would seem even more ideal.

Aslong as you have an efficent, reliable form of resources and repairs (you'd be out of luck if your boat died whilst in the middle of nowhere) I'm having trouble finding loopholes.

Sure it isn't the most comfortable or pleasurable way to spend 10 or so years, but it would keep you alive most likely.
