View Full Version : What would you think to 3D gaming?
So sony have been eyeing up 3D technology for a while now and it looks like it will be hitting us next year. I thought about this the other week and how it would be quite cool, bullets flying past you, rocks, etc etc.
What do you think? any features you think could be cool? Would be a bit of a pain having to wear those 3D glasses because they hurt my nose lol

If it's as awful as 3D films, no thanks.
3D films are only 'awful' because the main point is to make you jump and things to fly at you. 3D gaming would make gaming feel more real, rather than jumpy moments. Imagine being able to see real depth on things like houses, trees, cars, people

isnt that g-force game in 3d or summin.
And no i wouldnt enjoy it because simply tv's arent designed for it, the quality would be horrible
im not sure about g force but, what you said about TVs: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/01/ces-2009-sony-teases-with-high-quality-ps3-3d.ars

PS3 are trying to make it so it can be applied to any game, and to update it in a firmware update

On Skate. 2 you can enter this code and it will make it go red and blue 3D? Needless to say it didn't work, but I cant see the bonus in it, it would deterioate the graphics I reckon and 3D glasses hurts my eyes and gives me headaches, so I wouldn''t really want it, I like gaming normal.
Seeing as I wear glasses and I guess 3D doesn't work with them, I'l stick with 2D.
I wouldnt use it cant stand just 2 colours

It's gonna be really cool I think.
Few points:
It's not the GForce game thats in 3D its Avatar
It's not in 2 colours, it's full colour like normal games
On the new 3D TV's you dont need to wear glasses, each pixel on the TV emits light in 9 different directions giving the illusion of 3D without glasses

That last point just changed my response from, idk to 'omg I can't wait!!!!' :P If it actually works like that on a standard HD TV, then I am really interested to see what it's like.
Although I still can't imagine it properly without some sort of headset... surely 100% 3D would include turning your head etc and you won't get the stuff flying past you effect if it's on a screen that's in front of you?

tbh you can make any game 3d easily if you mod it.
and im pretty sure they released tomb raider in 3d? so i dunno what your getting at.

It requires a special 3D TV to work, current TVs cant emit light like that unfortunatly.

Yeh, definatly but I don't think it's really financially viable yet. You'd need to buy several headsets for each console.

3D gaming shouldn't even be thought about until 3D holographic technology is available to use. I don't want any 2D trickery having to wear glasses.
