How long does it usually take for them to fit it in depending on the person who measures your teeth and decides you need braces?

My top teeth are not straight and if i don't get them soon enough, i will eventually turn into a goof ball. :P

I don't really understand what you mean but you can get them at any age and they'll still work. It'll just cost money when you're older is all.

Well my top teeth are not straight. When i went to the Dentist the person who usually checks my teeth said if you wanted to have braces i would need to go and see a specialist who can fit braces in and that they will decide, depending on the boarder line of my teeth if i needed to get braces.

What i'm trying to say is how long does it usually take to get the braces once they measure up and say yeh, you can have it done.

Well you'll only be able to get them once all your adult teeth are in fully. And you may also need to have teeth removed to make room. Both of those take time but if we skip them and assume that your first orthodontist appointment is the starting point then you're talking 1 week wearing elastic bands to make small gaps in some of your back teeth then the braces go in. So say 1-2 weeks from your first appointment with the ortho, assuming you have no baby teeth + necessary teeth removed (if you need that, not everyone does). Then obviously you'll have them for X years.

It can take some time to get to the stage of moulds though.

I was referred earlier this year in about May I think. In August, I had a quick initial appointment where an orthodontist poked around my mouth with a mirror and a ruler (which she decided she didn't need) and asked me a few questions, before telling me I could have treatment. In November, I will go for my X-rays, but I don't know what happens next.

This is not true. My Canine teeth were impacted and i still had my baby teeth when i had my braces fitted. After a few years of waiting for them to come through i had the operation.

I think it depends on how busy they are. I had a meeting with the guy who done mine one week and the following week i was having them fitted.
having them actually fitted only takes 20-30 mins tops.

This was over 6 years ago so the times may be wrong... i still have my braces on now...

I'm probably gonna get them since according to my dentist my jaw is misaligned so it's messed up my teeth. My cousin had his done a couple of years ago and it only took a week for him to get them made and put on.

Thanks for the reply's. I've booked an appointment for next week so fingers cross I won't have to wait long for em' braces. :D

My brother had them in before but everytime he had something to eat it always cut his gums so i hope it won't happen to me. :P

I've had braces and the experience wasn't a brilliant one. I think I waited for about a month and then they began to take impressions of my teeth. I had the braces fitted a week later. It's weird. I was always one for biting my nails but having braces makes it impossible, you end up biting the skin around your finger and that's really painful. The first day I had braces I was in so much agony and that pain lasted for about four days. Your teeth might also become much more sensitive, I had a shock when I drank my first glass of water after having them placed. Eating bread is also a weird experience first-time because it feels like your teeth are all wobbly and such & they get well dirty so get those little cleaning brushes for them. All in all, good luck.

Above post is true, unfortunately. For the first four or five days eating will be agony as will not eating. To be perfectly honest it feels like your teeth are being twisted before you pull them out. It's very unpleasant but it goes away, just something you have to deal with - worth it in the end.
