A British film about Charles Darwin has failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/6173399/Charles-Darwin-film-too-controversial-for-religious-America.html

I always knew we were much more liberal than the US but I didn't realise just how many of them don't believe in evolution and have such an ignorant approach towards it :S That's like dismissing gravity because it's only a 'theory'...

Wow, that's crazy. Also harsh on the film makers as they're not getting any way near the gross they were expecting now.

The film has sparked fierce debate on US Christian websites, with a typical comment dismissing evolution as "a silly theory with a serious lack of evidence to support it despite over a century of trying".

Oh, the irony .

LAWLZ Taking such a stance on it keeps making me think that these guys claims are contradictions. If you take the bible apart, you'll find the theory of evolution starring at you right there.

I'm sure it'll find a distributor after its situation has become news-worhty an d it'll find its place with some kind of theatrical release anyway. It shouldn't be stopped just because of this world's unenlightened population.

Its cause they scream religion at you in america and force you to believe in the utter ********.

i think we should discard movies like toy story, because its against reality that toys walk and talk with their own minds.

No film should have to suffer from people's faith. It's moronic. Like how no film should be banned or cut for its content. There should be no film ratings, just guidelines to show people if films are appropriatefor certain ages, but not restrict them.

People messed up in the head may be influenced, but that's because they're already screwed up. If you're a perfectly stable human being, you can't be corrupted by what you seen on screen. I was brought up on horror, I've seen thousands and thousands. I watched my first 18-rated horror flick at 4 years old, yet I have never had the urge to go out and cut John Cue Public's head off.

To quote Quentin Tarantino, "If your parents are cool, they'll take you to see these movies.".

lmao, yes but some of these movies are disturbing, and i've seen a horror get to my brother once (when he was of age) that Horror of emma rose or something, pure freaked him out for weeks.

So some of these movies can turn people mentally unstable.

not that this darwin movie would...

A horror film is meant to terrify and scare the audience. Job done in your brother's case.

Inseriousity.

I agree about the age rating discussion going on (even if it is off-topic lol). Age is just a number at the end of the day, you can have a mature 12 year old watching 18s and not fazed by the 'adult' content. All depends on the person tbh.

Anyway, on topic, it's a shame that it's getting banned but I'm not surprised. It's not a film I'd personally want to watch but by saying 'let's ban this', it'd make me want to watch it even more.
