View Full Version : Micky Adams - " I'm putting everyone on the transfer list and I've told them so."

Port Vale boss Micky Adams responded to his side's 3-1 loss to Notts County by placing his entire squad on the transfer list.
A brace from Lee Hughes and a Lee Collins own goal gave the Magpies victory and the visitors' manager was furious about the tame way his side were defeated for a third time in a week.
Adams said: "We weren't good enough and it won't be tolerated. I'm putting everyone on the transfer list and I've told them so.
"When you come to a place like Meadow Lane with all their quality and riches you cannot role over and have your bellies tickled for you.
"I'm telling it how it is and we'll see how good our players are now. It will be fascinating to see how many offers we get for them.
"I think you can go along with things for so long but I'm not willing to do that any more. We are in a privileged position as professionals. There are hundreds of footballers who don't have a job and if our players don't want to take the profession seriously I don't want them at this club."

Bit harsh? they only lost 3-1? heat of the moment I think? :P

Bet he's regretting what he said now, but anyway, just saw a clip of him saying it on Sky Sports News, I found it quite funny. :P

Thoughts?

I don't know masses about football but I know that in motorcycle racing when it comes up to contract signing time at the end of the season riders tend to ride better as they are looking to either keep their job or find a new one.

Maybe he's playing that kinda strategy?

He could be, but telling all his players that they have been put on the transfer list is a very risky strategy. :P

will either work and everyone picks up their game or morale will be lost and things will get worse. risky.

heat of the moment much but it is a good tacit if it comes off. If he doesn't he could be kissing his job goodbye not his players :P

But surely he can't sell his players until January? So he's just demoralized them until then, unless he sends them all out as loans with a view to permanent transfers. Even then that would mean he could only replace them with loans until January, and I know too well what an overload of loans does :'(

They don't even have money to spend on players.
