Hmm, have you tried to make yourself REALLY tired so you sleep well by doing loads of exercise.

Try sleeping tablets

or go and see your doctor.

Sorry to hear it man. I have the same problem, go to bed at a reasonable hour but I wake up at the very early hours of the morning then I can't get back to sleep properly. I've not tried any remedies but sleeping pills would probably do it if you can get a presciption for them.

Going to SLEEP at 9/10/11 and waking up at 5/6am is sort of natural, I’m guessing when you say going to bed you are not actually falling asleep till almost 12? Or maybe I am wrong and you actually do sleep at 9/10/11 in that case sleeping at 9 and waking up at 5 is not that bad. The average thirteen year old needs about eight to ten hours a sleep, yet realistically nobody who has to be up at 7/8/9am will get those times because of there busy school schedule. As you progress through puberty you will find you will need more sleep than people who are not. Sleep deprivation DOES add up. Try including some winding down time maybe an hour before you go to sleep, so turning things off then and maybe even going to bed then. Also try to stick to your routine on weekends, I know it can be hard for some to do that (Especially me) but it does help.

Some causes of sleep deprivation for teens is also stress about school / exams, this will keep you up a lot, even if its sub consciously, if you are worried about something your body will react to that. I would recommend trying a few of the tips I have said, and also going back to your GP and asking for some more tips and treatments for insomnia. Remember if you are awake through out the night, times that you are lying awake will seem longer than they actually are. So if you do think you are having problems sleeping because you lie awake for a long time at night, it may not be as long as you think it is ;)

You might also have a problem with the temperature in your room, maybe try experiment sleeping with a fan next to you if its too hot or with the heating on. I know some nights I can't get to sleep unless I have the fan on (Even if its not hot!) Your mattress might also be the issue if it’s too soft or too hard. If your mattress is too soft your body will sag which will eventually cause you pain in the back and will keep you up. Also try getting a bit more active, many people who do not exercise are prone to have more sleeping problems than others, try going for a jog in the afternoon.

Don't pull an all-nighter the day before, as that will ruin your sleeping pattern, it may work for some to stay up all night the day before and sleep till 1pm the next day. But it really is not practical when you stay up all night Saturday, then Sunday fall asleep at lunchtime when you are tired and then wake up at 2am.

Try to stick to a routine were you eat food around two to three hours before bed, your body will be up all night digesting the food! :D Also if you do find yourself sleeping badly one night, don’t sleep in as it will make it harder to sleep again when it comes to the night, try to wake up at the same time everyday and if you did have a bad night maybe go to bed an hour / half an hour earlier. If nothing of this works, go back to your doctor and ask to be treated for any sleep deprivation illnesses. :)

It sounds like a small case of insomnia, usually you fade out of them with time and go back to your original sleep pattern, I know I had a problem with sleeping when I was 15 it lasted about two months xD! How long have you had it?

You could try some simple things to try and help you sleep, like exhausting yourself; it isn't as bad as it sounds considering the amount of sleep you need isn't related to how long your awake, its usually the same no matter how long you're awake for. You could also try sleeping pills that you can buy, or warm milk/horlicks etc.

I had this for the first half of this summer after i'd been to barbados. I couldn't get to sleep until about 1am-2am and then would have to stay in bed until at least 11am. It wasn't jet lag because it didn't match Barbados it was just a mucked up sleeping pattern from not sleeping 32 hours in a row traveling home. I got it straight by well i went camping and got well tired and sortid it. Bit the exercise one is the best idea make yourself rly tired and it should work. :)
