Anyone going this year? I went last year in May, and also this year in May once again but I've never been in October before. I'm only going on saturday since my friends are so cheap and can't afford to stay another day. :P I'm not really going for anime this time though, just for the experience and Elijah Wood! I'm such a huge fan, I can't wait to meet him! I bet it'll be like when I met Craig Charles though... was so hyped and had a ton to ask him but when I got there my mind just went blank and I became the shyest person on the planet for a second. Speaking of which, he's going to be there again next month. I better start preparing myself for an encounter with two legends.

I am going! :D At the moment I have kind of worked out were I am staying. But not 100% yet, so if I can’t find anywhere to stay it will be very unlikely if I will manage to get there :( I am going for the dealers and to meet up with a few people and just have a laugh ;)

I was going to cosplay Simon from TTGL, but unfortunately due to no money, no time and me being crap at quick cosplays, I decided I would leave it for now and do it some other date ;) If anyone reading this knows what I look like (from the picture thread) say hi to me if you are there :D

Every time I've been I stayed at Etap hotel. It only takes like 10 minutes to walk to the Excel Centre from there and it's proper cheap, like £45 per night and three people per room. Of course you only get a small room with the essentials, but it's great for a short stay.

o rly? may be able to convince my friend then. dont wanna go on my own.. plus never been before so i dont know what to expect or anything all i knwo is theres some freebies, overpriced stuff, bootlegs, and 2 people from OP cast are gonna be there

Bootlegs? Where did you hear that from? I've been twice and all the things I have bought and seen have been official products.

Also, don't depend on the freebies too much. First time I went there wasn't really anything good, but last time I went Beez gave away a DVD and MVM gave away The Slayers volume 1 in every bag. When I was given my bag while waiting in the line I just took out the DVDs, put them in my own bag and left the other bag behind. When I was inside the actual convention room I was then offered another bag because they saw I didn't have one, so I ended up with yet more free DVDs. I should have kept doing it lol. Would have gotten rich by selling them on ebay.

Another thing, a lot of stuff is overpriced but there are a good few bargins here and there. I'm not sure if ADV are going to be at any events anymore, but at the expo four months ago they were selling stuff at ridiculusly cheap prices. All six volumes of Utawarerumono (26 episodes) for just £25! I paid over £50 for mine when they came out! All their other DVDs were super cheap as well. Most of their 13 episode series were going for like £15. I wish I bought Magical Shopping Arcade! The only overpriced thing they had was the Evangelion Platinum tin set and what do ya know! It was the only thing I bought from them! :eusa_wall

One last thing... the Expo must have made loads of money last time or something because not only is Elijah Wood going to be there this time but so is the president of studio BONES... but wait! Theres more! If that isn't enough the bloody director of Sword of the Stranger is going to be there as well! ******* Masahiro Ando! He also did key animation in anime such as Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell, Planetes, Full Metal Alchemist, Eureka Seven, Cowboy Bebop and a ton more. I don't know what is with this sudden lineup of ultimate guests but I'm over the moon so I won't question it. Geekout time. I want Masahiro Ando to sign my Sword of the Stranger DVD.

Wow? It isn't unnatural for people to live there. :P You're lucky you'll be so close to the Olympics in 2012 though.

Booked all my train and buss tickets for the long travel up to London :) I completely failed at cosplay ;[ I was going to whip up something fast like a mega awesome Maxwell from the DS game Scribblenauts, but I don’t have time to even do that.

It's not all about merchandise you know. This time I'm just going for the experience. Its great to go and meet other fans, talk to the celebrities, play games months before their release and just experience something you'll rarely get a chance to do.

Got back yesterday but didn't come on because I was tired from the all nighter. The Expo was AMAZING! I seriously think it gets better every time. Some awesome cosplays but I didn't get any pictures because I was recording everything. I even spotted some Gintama cosplayers, which are rare at the expo. One cool Kagura and one awesome Gintoki. To my surprise I only bought two things at the expo throughout the entire day, even though I had like £200. They were Sword of the Stranger on DVD, which I got signed by the director and the president on BONES, and the first volume of Slam Dunk (manga). The rest of the time I was looking around, chatting and just taking in the atmosphere. I also attended the Masquerade again (cosplay contest) and there were some fantastic entrants.

The all nighter started at midnight. The running order from first to last was The Sky Crawlers, Time of Eve, King of Thorn, Eureka Seven, Wvangelion 1.0. I was disappointed The Sky Crawlers was first because I had already seen it and wanted to sleep through it and was also disappointed Evangelion 1.0 was last because even though I had already seen it I was hyped to see it on the big screen and knew I'd be pretty damn tired and fidgety by then. The Sky Crawlers was good, but as I've said before not overly entertaining, it isn't really I film I'd watch again in a hurry. Time of Eve was absolutely fantastic. It's a six episode OVA which had the entire cinema in hysterics a lot of the time. I totally recommend it. I was hyped to see King of Thorn because the trailer was awesome, and it started off alright but went down hill soon after. It was an okay film, but nothing amazing. Just glad I was one of the first in the world to see it. The Eureka Seven movie was damn boring. They completely changed the personalities of the characters from the series, as well as the story and the whole damn film was way too serious. As a result everything seemed too overly dramatic and 99% of the characters were ********. The animation was good though, I'd give it that. It was only film of the night I slept in, even though it was only for ten minutes or so. Evangelion was amazing as always, but we were behind schedule so a few people left before it came on. Also, as I anticipated, by that time I was getting rather fidgety from having sat in the cinema most of the time so I wasn't particularly giving it my closest attention. We got free ice cream though which was good. That ice cream was damn nice. They also gave us this free green drink which was probably the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted. Freebies were also given out to everyone, and then a couple of anime boxsets and other goodies were tossed around the cinema. I was sat pretty much at the back so unfortunately I didn't get any as none were through that far. Overall though, it was amazing. Not as good as the expo, but I had a lot of fun.

Sword of the Stranger isn't officially out until the 2nd of November. I should have bought like ten and got the director to sign them all. Would have made a fortune on ebay!

I would have bought Ghost in the Shell 2.0 as well but Manga wanted £15 for it, and I knew it would be cheaper on Amazon. Sword of the Stranger was only £10 and it was free to get it signed. I didn't actually speak to Masahiro Ando (the director) but I shook Masahiko Minami's (president of BONES) hand and said 'thank you very much' after he handed me back my DVD. He replied with a smile and said 'thank you' and I went off to have a geekout.

I just got back from expo just then! :D It was pretty amazing! :) My friends from another con was running the DDR:UK area so I was hanging out there allot of the weekend so that was good. They had a raffle there and I managed to spend all my going home and expo money on it, so getting home was the hardest thing in the world. (Which would explain my lateness) :D

Overall it was amazing, I managed to meet up with so many people from other cons and even met some new friends! :D Heck the Saturday conga line made my weekend LOL.

The conga line I saw only had five people lol. Must have been the birth of it. :P Anything good happen on sunday? I totally wished I was there when I got home at like 11am. I was so tempted to just hop on the train and go back.

I was going to, but I assumed he at least knew what 'thank you' meant. It seems he actually knew a little English because he even told my friend his drawing of Nanashi (main character from the movie) was very good when he asked him to sign it. Most of the people that did thank him probably did say 'arigato' though. I wonder how he would have responded to 'domo arigato mr. roboto'.

lol hmm might check the beez site again.. it did mention stuff about dvds and signing's but that might only be prize's for something. *checks* o well
