I have a video camera like anybody else but is there anyway I can plug it into the my tv so that it records my PS2 gameplay and I don't want to have to buy anything or use a tripod because recording sucks.

No, you need a video capture card or DVDR.

It's hardware that you have to fit into your computer, like a video card, then you connect it up with your TV and console and then you can record.

In the case of DVD, you have to own a DVD recorder. You record the channel you play your games on, then rip the DVD onto your computer.

I'd say the DVD recorder would be the cheaper option, but some capture cards are as low as £20 on Amazon. :P

You can get this special thing, its called "Dazzle DVD Recorder", you basically link your console to it (you need to buy some splitters, cheap on maplin) and you split your connection between the Dazzle and your TV. Then in a recording program, I think Windows movie maker will do it, you can record. No lagg is caused at all and no quality really lost.

Youtube "Capturing with Dazzle PS3" (It be the same, but PS3 is more common in todays technology w0rlds"

If your looking for a lot better quality than DVD standard, check out some HD capture cards.

I've heard a lot of good things about http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&source=hp&q=hauppauge+hd+pvr&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=8359168698850511228&ei=s-nFSuDCFsmH_Aax2OiVCA&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=4#ps-sellers

Might be slightly out of the price range your willing to pay.

Captain obvious.

I was responding to James' (Protege's) post where he mentioned the PS3

His post was just discussing capture cards, but if the guy is only wanting a capture card to record PS2, why would you bring HD capture cards into the equasion? :S

Even if you take the current console in discussion, surely a HD capture card would be a better long time investment? I have used many a capture card and alot are sub-par quality either due to crappy technologies or dodgy compression.

HD capture card's would offer the potential to record 360's and other HD devices if and when the OP buys them.

But for the moment he's only recording his PS2, so he may aswell go for a £10 EasyCap then get 3 splitters and the double ended AV cables.
