I've applied to work in a pub and the guy who works there says I have to work weekends as well if they need me. Now he says pay is minimum wage per hour, but would it still be minimum wage per hour at the weekend?

Thank-you.

'fraid so wayne.

The only time an employer has to pay you more is for "premium" hours between midnight and 4am :)

Damn, ok thanks. :P He's offered me 40 hours a week and possible overtime, so I should be able to get quite a lot of money per week. Do you know if overtime is minimum wage too?

You'll have to ask him about the overtime rate, it's usually a bit more than 'normal' though.

I don't know his age, so he could be under 22 so it might be different. Also people can say around minimum wage, doesn't mean its EXACTLY £5.73/£4.77 p/h.

Fair enough, I never realised that there were different options for different ages, I thought it was £5.73 for whatever age.

I used to get £6 p/h for pub work. Wasn't behind the bar though, general slavery. Was good until it closed.

I'm 19, so I bet it's around £5.70 but I dunno.
