£25,000
2 match suspended ban

this was for the goal celebration. thought it deserved it's own thread after all the controversy.

That's more than a fair punishment. At the end of the day he has got away without a proper ban which I think is fair as I've always said he shouldn't be banned and the Fine is what... 1/2 day's work for him. Not that bad :P

quite a hefty fine though i think really. £25,000 is a lot for running the pitch.

I think they're sending out a message to anyone else to plans to do something like this more then anything. I do think it's a fair ban and really that is no money to him :) he knew when he do it he wouldn't have got away with it completely whether he expected this or not :)

yeah it's not much to him. but i've seen smaller fines for bigger things.

Something should happen to Arsenal then. They can't have their fans hurling abuse like that again, I don't know what they could do, but they should tell their fans to stop it really as it is disgusting. Bit annoying to see him recieve a 2 match ban, despite how many other players have done much worse celebrations.

EDIT - Just read the BBC report, and I didn't realise its a suspension and not a 2 match ban. :P That's a relief I guess. £25,000 for running the length of a pitch is a bit harsh, but to be honest, he earns that much anyway, that it shouldn't really affect him at all. Although, I do think he should have recieved more match bans for the incident he had with Van Persie, that was just disgusting and a three match ban was really lucky for him really...

If it was a liverpool player i would have loved the celebration.

it's not 2 match ban. it's suspended ban. he misses no games.

Fair enough, means if he does it again he'll get the ban and if he does it again then he deserves it. Will hopefully set a precedent. Simeon Jackson celebrated right infront of our away fans too :(

yeah, let's stop player's celebrating by opposing fans. if that happened, that ginger ***** quinn from sheff utd would be banned for 20 games a season. he ran the pitch, so what? arsenal fans disliked him and he stuck it right back in their faces. probably a silly thing to do, yes but it's not worth a ban. scott murray did ran the length of the bob bank cupping his ear if I remember correctly.

no charge for fergie or neville though for clearly celebrating towards the man city fans albeit on the touchline.

Still, do you think he's bothered about the money? The only effect this will have on him is make him less likely to do similar things in future for fear of a more severe ban-orientated punishment.

He's been punished twice for the same thing now (yellow card, and now this) - this punishment is more than adequate.
