First of all, if this is impossible to do then I would kindly like to ask a Moderator to close the thread.

Basically, a lot of problems are caused by quotes. Original posts gets edited yet if that post has been quoted then that quote will stay the same. This means that if anyone posts then wishes to edit it and while doing that someone decides to quote them, the quote will show the original post and that may not be what the original poster wanted. An example of this which just happened to me, (like it does everyday) is here:

http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?p=6081448#post6081448

As you can see, Invincible quoted me when while I was updating my post.

Another good reason for this to be put into place is so that when Moderators edit bad posts, any quotes of that bad post will also be edited. This means that the Moderators will never be blamed for missing a post again! And of course, the bad post will definitely be out of sight so nobody would be offended by that post, this could cut down on arguments quite a bit too.

Like I said at the start of this post, I don't know anything about vBulletin therefore am unsure as to whether this is possible.

just report your own post and say i stopped my post from being insulting / against the rules or w.e and i realised i shouldn't after posting, unfortunately i got quoted saying the old one, they should change it without warnings or infractions, just big noice red writing.

I don't think he's trying to say what you're saying there Voiceover, the post I quoted of Mint's earlier wasn't insulting/rule breaking at all.

It is annoying that people can quote you before you finish editing and what you mention would be a very good thing to add and it would be ideal, particularly in the situation you mentioned yesterday!! :P

I'm not too sure it's possible, however I won't follow your instructions and close this as I'm not a VB boffin - maybe someone who knows more will answer this query more sufficiently.

However as a member of the community I support this idea if it's possible.

I'm not sure a plugin exists, in which case it wouldn't be implemented and surely it would require querying every post with every other post on every thread.

I think Jin would have a heart attack :)

But what about the situations when you want the original post there?

IE: Someone says something and then you point out that they're completely wrong/hypocritical/rude etc and then they edit their post to change what they said to something completely different.

In debates for example you might totally counter argue a point with another user. You quote their post and might prove it wrong with facts etc. Then if they were to edit their post quickly to something else you'd look stupid lol.

I know what you mean but I don't think it's a good idea. Would end up causing arguments too I reckon.

That would be fixing something that isn't broken. If it's to cover up rule breaking then you shouldn't post it and then edit anyway.

I agree with this update, it's hella annoying when someone quotes you whilst you are updating your post, if it is possible to do this, then have it disabled on every forum apart from debates?
