Probably around 22". Must have DVI input. Not bothered about HDMI or not - I have a TV for HDMI things. No built in speakers preferably (they take up space/make the thing bigger/more expensive and also sound crap).

Preferably of a decent/respectable brand, but any will do as decent image quality is the primary deciding factor, not brand.

Ideally I would like a 1920x1080 resolution, but due to finance shortages I probably can't be affording this with above features (DVI). Ideally I'd like a Dell S2209W or S2309W, but too pricey. 1680x1050 is probably what it's going to have to be.

I'm happy buying off eBay etc, wherever is cheapest.

At the moment I'm looking at the Samsung T220 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143280

HDMI and DVI, and does 1920x1080

For about £10 more, if you really want a good brand, go for this LG although it only does 1650x1050.

This isn't very good input, but IMO you're better off going with a Dell monitor, my SP2309W is flawless in my eyes.

I have this monitor:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/169635

Bought from that exact link when I first built my PC. It's been excellent, I use the full HD resolution of 1920x1080 and it has both VGA and DVI (and comes with a HDMI adaptor, I think).

Excellent monitor and excellent price, Highly recomended.

Yes, I would, but I'm a student on limited money...

Thanks for the recommendation. The thing is, the G2220HDA you linked to doesn't have DVI according to the manufacturer, it's the G2220HD that has DVI http://benq.com/products/LCD/?product=1458&page=specifications

Don't make the connection that much of an issue, just get an adapter. I've never noticed the difference anyway tbh.

No. I want HDCP compliance.

Ahh, wrong link, my monitor is infact the G2220HD. But I did buy it from eBuyer and it was extremely well priced. So I recommend it.

Ok, I have decided 22" is probably a little too big. I'm now thinking 19" or 20". The Dell SP2009W for £130 has caught my eye so far.

Might be suitable, around the same price as the Dell.

BTW, I know a mate that has an SP2009W and they're not half bad.

Ok,

SP2009W for £110 - http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-6964 (ignore the fact these are US links, the specs are the same)

or

S2209W for £120 - http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-7438

S2209W advantages: Ideally I want the S2209 as it's 1080p and bigger. Matt screen.

S2209W disadvantages: A bit too big (20.6" wide) for where it's going. It will just about fit, but with not much room and take up all the space.

SP2009W advantages: A better physical size for where it's going (19" wide - that 1.6 makes a difference). 4 USB ports and a webcam could be useful. £10 cheaper which is a lot as a student.

SP2009W disadvantages: Glossy screen. A little uglier. (I don't mind the fact that it's 1680x1050 and not some 16:9 format).

Both are official Dell refurbishments.

Any help?

In my experience, Matte screens have always been BETTER, but I now have a gloss screen, and it's wayyyy more detailed in my opinion. I'd go for the SP2009W.

I'd go for the SP2009W. Purely because A. there's a webcam and USB ports, and B. I wouldn't really NEED 1080p

Just think though. Do you REALLY need 1080p? If you REALLY think you do, go for the S2209W

Of course I don't really need it just like I don't really need a one of these monitors. It's just a nice think to have. Also, it's 16:9 which I'd prefer and there's more pixels (especially in width) for me to play with.

Well, if you want the extra pixels, go for the SP2209W.
