Well i just relised, i have a HD projector and now a HD screen why not just get a HD sky, i was thinking seeing as i have Sky+ with 2 cables for the inputs would it work if i rang sky and got the HD package and just changed the sky box's myself, rather than buying a sky box of sky and getting fitting for really nothing?

I have a feeling when you install Sky HD, you have to have a new cable put in place of the old one. On the dish, there are (I think) four sockets. Sky takes up one, but Sky HD needs to take up two.

they had to replace the dish and put in two new cables for us so it wouldnt work

We have Sky HD downstairs so a new dish woulnt be needed, sky normally just takes 1 cable, sky+ takes 2, so idk

if you are going from sky + to sky HD you don't need a new LNB or Dish.

you need a new box which iirc is £50, then the subscription which is an additional £10 per month but that lets you use it on as many boxes as you have in the house with said subscription (so 2 boxes = stilll £10 extra p/m)

the box itself is different, mainly as it has an HDMI output which the standard SKY or SKY+ boxes don't. you don't need a new dish/line.

IIRC SKY HD has a different EPG to SKY/SKY+ but it won't be active straight away, it could take a couple of months to work.

I'm not sure if you can fit the box yourself, whether they'd send it out to you because it's rediculous paying an engineer to plug some wires into a box for you when tbf it's really quite easy. 1x Aerial input (optional), 2x satellite inputs, 1x HDMI output, 1x phone line input and 1x 240v input. viewing card in, activate and go.

IIRC you need a card hooked up to your sky box for it to work, i was going to do this but i got told by my friend who used to work for sky that they are paired or somethin

bleh sounds pretty complicated if you ask me, and also too much to upgrade just to get a slightly better picture (not to mention the monthly more expensive bills) too much hassle!!

pointless even if it did work, as you'd get exactly the same picture on the hd channels as at the end of the day it's still connected with SCART or RCA..
