BOYZONE star Stephen Gately is dead at just 33, the News of the World can reveal.

Mystery surrounds the passing of one of the biggest stars in pop music over the last 15 years.

Gately was believed to have been holidaying in Majorca when he tragically died yesterday (Saturday).

In the early hours Boyzone manager Louis Walsh told the News of the World: "We're all absolutely devastated.

"I'm in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don't know much about what's happened yet.

I wasn't really into boyzone as a band, but I knew that Steven was a good singer. What a young age to die. :'(

He might have been drinking redbull and vodka all night or something, such a shame, seemed like a nice man and was a relatively good singer! :(

Agreed.

I don't know any of the names of Boyzone but when I clicked this thread I instantly knew it would be this guy for some reason, he always reminded me of Mark from Eastenders. Anyway, really unexpected and shame he died so young but at least he had a good life. RIP Steven Gately.

Not after her death no, even though I didn't agree with the amount of publicity she got. These are two very different circumstances though, and Jade Goodys death was in somewhats contraversial (sp.), however, this death was a sudden death to a star which has shocked many people and disrespecting that is disgusting in my opinion. Anyway, it's been adressed in the announcement.

After the death of Stephen Gately in his Spanish villa, stars of the screen have been paying tribute. Ronan Keating said he was gutted, Louis Walsh said he was devastated and Michael Barrymore said he was innocent.
