460 reports in a year.

Good or bad?
Thoughts.

Did you go through the archives and count them all? Must have taken ages xP
I do hope this isn't an attempt to run down the news department :D

I think it should be more than that.

It is terrible, because I think it only posts something when someone else doesn't.

I also fail to see how this has anything to do with "Habbo in general".

Well that's over 1 article a day so personally I believe it's good :P

I think that's quite good. It's 1.2 a day. Perhaps reports could up that to 2 but it's not terrible!

You can't judge the news team like this in a year in my view. I was part of the news department at the start of this year, and I know things were run differently then to how they are now - in terms of production etc. etc. or managers goals to focus on some sections more and stuff. If it was on a monthly basis then I think it is fair to judge.

Inseriousity.

Quality not quantity, as MissAlice and every other sane person would say! :)

The news department works hard. The 'writing' departments, such as news and articles, have a harder time imo as they tend to need more committment and can be seen like a chore (when you've done loads of essays, you don't want to write more, for example). Well done News Department, keep up the good work :eusa_clap

Thats a bit off topic and it wasn't cause of fun it was as it was inappropriate.

I havn't long been in the department, but I don't think that figure is anything to worry about really.

At the moment we have a very small team, but I do believe that the department is coping well. There have been management changes throughout the year, and this does affect things a bit. Staff getting used to the system etc, and also the amount of News that there actually is to report all makes a difference.

Thanks to the people who believe in us, and we will continue to bring you the best reports we possibly can, whilst maintaining quality of course. I don't think that many Habbo News articles are left out when it comes to being turned into a Habbox News report, and that surely has to be good?

I will admit one thing that does need improving, and we will be working on, is our International News reports. We understand that many Habbox users/guests are interested in News outiside the Uk hotel, and we will aim to give them some juicy reports too!

Considering the news department currently consists of about 3 people I think Lana is doing a grand job.

I haven't personally rated Habbox News very highly in the past year due to certain goals being pushed which kind of devalued the main ideas of the department in my mind.

However Lana (and Rob until he resigned) have really turned the news team around and it's very good to see the news team doing so well at the moment with so little staff

Kudos to Lana & the team!

When was the last time we had an articles department, like October 2008? Loves you.

News is coping quite well. They've recovered nicley from the error they had which saw no posts being made for over a week, so taking that into consideration its quite a healthy number. Of course there is always room for improvement, and as they hire more people and expand the department more news will get posted.

Actually yeah they are doing quite well. There are still room for improvements but I have been looking at the new team that we have gained recently and there have been massive improvements.

Considering the problems we have faced with the news department earlier on this year regarding technical difficulties and staff shortages as well as the habbox.com downtime this summer.

I think the news department have done a bloody marvellous job.

When this thread was in Habbo in General - To those who asked why - Because it was the 600 and odd Habbo-related reports I was reffering to (UK) not International or out of Habbo news.

Just wanted to add, that the only thing I feel that should change, is the amount of time it takes for News reports to be approved. I don't at all blame Lana, as it must take ages to approve them etc, but sometimes it takes more than 24 hours for them to be approved, and by this time the news is often out of date/not relevant anymore.

I think this will improve once Lana gets an assistant to help with this, but it can be quite frustrating at times when a report you have put a lot of work into is "old news" by the time it is actually published on Habbox.com.

Maybe there could be more people who are able to "Approve" News reporters reports? I blame the system in a way, as Surely once news reporters pass the trialist stage, they could be trusted to post reports without having to have them approved or something? I don't know really. :P

Wait what is this 'approval' system. I don't think it was here when I was there earlier this year? In the past news reporters were always trusted to post top quality articles, thus no approvals were needed so this is something new ;o.

I'm not sure how long it's been around, but it basically means that any reports written by Myself/Tootish have to be Approved before they can be seen by the public.

Whilst in theory it's a good idea, it can also be annoying when some news reports are a day out of date, as some competitions/events last for one day only and so the News isn't really worth reading once the event has happened.

Lana is great at approving them, and I know Jin has been helping out too. It's just a small Issue, and one that I'm sure won't be a problem when we get a new assistant manager. Luckily we are a very small team right now, so there arn't that many reports that have to be approved each day.

Grig

Ah that sounds cool, I was just wondering because in Aprilish time reports didn't need approval. Though all in all you're all doing a great job considering the setbacks you had before and the small team size, so well done :D!
