Yeah I was going to say my school has two weeks off and it's an independent school... so I would guess that is why people have two weeks off.
Yes, my school is an independent school and we have two weeks off.

well they still manage to get better grades than state schools and they spend less time at school, so i think its worth it.. yknow

disagree completely. let's not take this off topic but the fact is if students applied themselves in comprehensive schools they'd get good grades. difference is in private schools they are forced to apply themselves.

and how are people forced to apply themselves in private schools? i think the difference with private schools is class size, better teaching. state schools fail because the teachers dont care.

even so, they pay for that 'privilege'

I've only got a week off :( but that is not until next week.
I've got this week and next week :)
Technically people in private schools don't actually get more time off when it all adds up. I remember when I was looking at getting a scholarship (thank God I didn't, tbh) with a local public school and their days were much longer (something like 08:00 - 16:30) and they went in on Saturdays but had a half day Wednesday. All in all it amounted to about the same time you would spend in a state school it is just structured differently.

i think my parents would rather home educate me then sending me to private/public whatever, it's against everything they believe in. comprehensives/state schools aren't as bad as people make out. i've gone to them all my life and i've got good gcses and predicted AAA for my a levels. if you're intelligent enough you'll do well wherever you go. i have a week off next week but i've only done 3 hours so far this week so not too bothered. i have lit later today but it's raining and i'm not making my hair a mess for 1 lesson.
It's all about meritocracy mate.

yay ive started a debate
im so glad i went to a private school because anyone who knows me will know i struggled my way through secondary education and if i hadnt had the push i got from my school i would have failed majorly, so yknow if you dont have the motivation, have some kinda learning problem or anything like that a private school really helps you
In my opinion you have more of a chance of doing well at private school. I'm not saying that you can't do equally well at state school but at private school you are pushed to succeed whereas at state school you can do as you please. At state school if you get in with the wrong crowd it can affect your future.

I see what your saying, but personally i think it's soley upto the individual's willingness to achieve. If they hae the right attitude, they'd do well in either school. Also, there is alot of pushing that goes on in state or public schools, but like you said, grades are affected by friends. And if you get into the wrong crowd, it can be bad, which is more likely to happen in a public school.

Yes but some people - no matter hard they want to succeed, just can't. Therefore they need certain things to succeed.
im on next week and i have to revise so the most of it but i would rather teach myself then go to school so yah :) im looking forward to it :D

I've already had my week off College witch sucks because everyone's got a week or 2 off starting monday and i have to go into college for about 7 hours.
But the good thing is that i only go in college for 2 days (Monday and Tuesday) then on the other days i can do what Mr Garner does every day and be lazy.
