Hey, so I've been meaning to learn Polish for ages now, and when I got to Uni I left a notice on the student noticeboard asking for a speaker to possibly teach me the basics. So now, someone has emailed me having read it and is offering tuition, a fellow student.

Thing is, I've never done something like this before, being tutored by a friend or similar level person over something outside a institution, so I don't know how to approach it.

I assume we'd arrange to meet once or twice a week for an hour or so, but should I offer money for their teaching? Or another skill in return?

How does this kind of arrangement usually work?

Any help appreciated, J.

smart thing to do would be, ask him does he want paying, if no, a nice thing to do would be get him something for helping you.

well Im sure there doing it to be nice, but it would be nice at the end of the teaching like once a week to atleast give him or her something like "hey man thanks for doing this its not alot but hers £10"
