mature of you to do that sammeth, i look highly on you.

Why won't it be stated in the rules? it is obviously a matter that needs to be shown.

i agree with you. they shouldn't penalise you for mistakes but rather the people who actually break the rules in a menacing way. nothing will happen though. sorry!

He did break the rules, he posted the F word in huge letters. That's inappropriate.

If its annoying you don't read them, but by now you should have realised the matter has changed severely.

It doesn't need to be stated in the rules as I'm pretty sure all the forum knows that if you format a swearword, and it then appears unfiltered, its avoiding the filter. If they do it by accident they can then go back and edit it so it doesn't show. If they format it, see the word is unfiltered and leave it there unfiltered, then its intentional anyway, so they deserve to be punished. Either way, it doesn't need to be clarified in the rules as "don't avoid the filter" covers it just fine.

it wasn't intentionally avoiding the filter, and the whole forum obviously doesn't know when i've been here about 2 years and didn't know of it?

Why were you attempting to format a swearword if you thought it would appear as stars anyway? I don't get that.

the stars would enlarge would they not? i wanted to create a slant into the next sentence.

If you wanted large stars, then post stars and make them larger rather than the swearword?

Doesn't matter if it's menacing or not. His infraction has been judged fair because he posted an inappropriate word in huge letters and formatted it, do you think thats inline with the rules? and now he's gone completely off the subject of his infraction and is making threads for the sake of it.

What does it being 'menacing' have to do with anything?

if you had an ounce of common sense you would of realised how this forum operates. considering you've been here for some time, you should know what's acceptable, and whats not. avoiding the filter in any shape or form is against the rules. quite obvious really, and doesn't even require explaining as its self-explanatory. but then again, probably would be for those simple-minded users... :l

then it wouldn't be as fun (n)

if you don't want to clarify it in the rules and have trouble like this in the future without pointing out in the rule to shut them up fine, but its a suggestion.

We've not had a problem like this before because people know whats right and what isn't and the majority of users accept their punishments, especially when management deem them fair.

well done robbie! you've made my point exactly. moderators are just too eager to jump to their tools rather than trying to sort things. posts that cause a detrimental effect to the forum should be dealt with. i just used the word menacing to initiate that point. not ones that are done by accident. how was he supposed to know? he wasn't because it's not any where.

theirs you turning a blind eye again, how is this thread for the sake of it, i am giving you feedback, to improove the forum, to stop this happening again, and preposterous had the nerve to call me small mind. When i see it happening much more within the staff than myself, but as i said, if you want trouble to repeat itself, like in your signature, that you clearly must not believe in, that is your problems. And i'll leave it at that.

I think the former part of your post sums this whole masquerade up.

Thread closed as its now had a resolution, the rule doesn't need ammending as its perfectly clear - avoiding the filter in any way shape or form is against the rules.

It wasn't by accident, he's trying to act the fool and get his infraction reversed. You're telling me that you didn't know that BBCode affects the filter? Voiceover is an established member and knows perfectly well that it's against the rules.

Of course a moderator is going to use their tools in a situation like this, he's not just going to leave a huge swear word there is he?
