Currently on a contract and want to buy a pay&g iphone. My mum wants to take over my contract and her her number on it.

Went to the o2 shop today and asked if they could put my mums existing number onto the contract and just wipe mine from the system. The man said they couldnt do it and wasnt helpful at all, seemd like he just cudnt be arsed. And when i asked him if there was anything else we could do he just said 'no' thefore he has missed out on £500, they usually throw any deal at you to get you to buy something.

Does anyone know if the fella just cudnt be arsed doing his job or what, surley they should be able to transfer a number onto another sim?

They should be able to do that, yes. I'm pretty sure anyway. :P

It was just like the fella could not be arsed.

Usually they do everything they can to get your money.

Even when i asked him if there was anything else he could have said ' wont ur mum change her number' instead he just said 'no' thats why i think he couldnt be bothered.

Ring them up, they will be much more helpful, also I'm not sure if they can actually move numbers between contracts like that or not.

If your mum is on o2 then im not really sure but they shud be able to do it as there both on the same system so it shud be done instantly...

However if shes on a different network request a PAC code from them and give it to your contract provider.

But if your both on the same network then i dont see the problem. It shud be very easy to do

Yes it is. You can take out a contract and then put on a new number on it whenever. I cancelled my orange one and went to O2 and it took like 2 weeks for my PAC code to come through. You will have to get a PAC code if shes on a different network, and if shes with O2 they should be able to do it automatically.

Ring up customer services is your best bet

Read your O2 leaflets that you got with your simcard, it tells you on their how to activate the 3G internet.

I've been with o2 since I first ever had a phone and that's the first example of bad customer service I've heard of from them :O.

I rang up o2 with (I think) the same question and they told me I couldn't do it :( Maybe he misunderstood it or something because he seemed like a nice guy but yeah if you can I'm annoyed, I lost a few friends who I don't see irl through changing numbers!
