Woah hold up, you are Canadian and you don't hear the difference between that and American? :O Usually Canadians come over here saying they get mistaken for American over here and English back home. Never heard anyone say themselves that they're similar though. I thought I could even tell between the two!
Anyway I dunno, there's too many within each, for example I don't like some Irish accents but love others. My fav is possibly Dublin or some Scottish or even Aussie accents :P.
edit: lol at the Scottish vid!!!!

I was going to include that with what I said. I also find Aussie and New Zealand fairly similar and for some reason South Africa, but I can usually get the South African one pretty quick :P.

Well, a French-Canadian will have a strong French accent in their own Canadian accent. General Canadians do sound very similar to Americans, however you can often differentiate between the two because Canadians will say some words in such a way, like "about" becomes "abhowt" and doubt "dhowt". Hard to explain the pronounciations.

That guy in the English video annoys me :@
"Why don't alot of English people go to America then?" That's like me returning the comment, "because we think imbreeding is a disease which can be transmitted sexually." His english accent was crap anyway, it was so nazelly that you can tell he was putting it on :/ Then again, if it's fatal, I hope he gets it :/
No accent turns me on anyway :P And there's quite a difference between pure Canadian and pure American. What you're thinking of is Canadian-American, which obviously sounds the same. Canadians have less adnoid problems, and speak like a watered down Australian accent (by watered down, I mean quieter, less "gdayish" and less scratchy :P)

You've got to love the Irish accent!
I quite like the American accent, but depends on whereabouts in America their from.
I know people say it's common, but I like the Essex/Cockney accent (when the person is genuinely from that area, not when it's put on grr!) It's better than any 'posh' accent, I can't stand that.

I've grown to like the mancunian accent recently, though I was never a fan before.. I actually have more accents I dislike than ones I like. For example, I despise the scottish accent, the SA, the aussie and the american. But I do like spanish people speaking english, very cute twang they have.
Oh and I don't like my own (Yorkshire) but I am oddly defensive of it if anyone disses it.

I don't actually mind an English accent so long as it's not some coarse cockney sound.
As far as accents within Scotland go I like Fife accents, well anything towards the West coast is quite cute. It's a change from Glaswegian anyway.

Can't stand Australian and Irish accents, and I find American and quite a lot of Nothern English accents.
I like Scottish accents, I live pretty close to Glasgow, and I think my accent's pretty good, I get compliments when I speak to folk from other countries.
But I am from the South of Scotland, so it's all fae, wouldnae, cannae, shouldnae with me, though it's not as strong as a Glaswegian accent.
I hate Edinburgh accents, I really, really DID hear someone say "ken whit I mean like, eh?" in Sainsbury's.
