Every little helps. If a guestbook has something crazy like 50k comments and 100 people load the page, that'll cause a larger strain on the server than limiting the script to counting 1000 comments maximum.

The arrows: > <
Are the same, it's all about where the number is, I put:
(Theoretical number here) > 9000 Which means 9000 is below the amount.
I'm no mathematician, but I know it's right >:]

um not really cos, when you look at the comments, not all of them load - they load when you scroll down for more.
its probs put there so you can fit it without it going onto another line or something, wasnt hard to work that one out.
