Lalalalalala :]
I fancy this guy, whose Emo. Doesn't bother me, I'm sort of anyway :]
But last time I mentioned him to my mum (like ''I know this Emo guy'') she said she doesn't want mt mixing with them. Which is why I'm worried about her reaction, I'd like him to at least know I like him but don't know how to tell him :P
Plus he confides me about this girl he likes, whose making him depressed because shes going out with someone plus shes my best friend. I really don't know what to do :(

"I'm Emo. SLIPKNOT XO"

If that is your definition of 'emo', then I don't see a problem with it and your Mum is over reacting. Slipknot isn't bad at all, it's all gimmicks with the masks and music.

If you fancied some guy who actually cuts himself and is depressed all the time and listens to suicidal music or something, then yes, your mum is right to worry. But other than that, this guy is probably just following emo fashion or whatever. Your mum is stupid to judge him just from the word 'emo', it's prejudice.

Well if he actually is emo and not just following trends, then that does seem quite serious. What do you mean not fully cutting himself? Even self harming at all is a pretty serious psychological issue and he should probably go see someone if his problems are that bad?

Or maybe you can help him. I dunno the whole situation so it's kind of hard to pass judgement.

Bearing in mind I'm like Under 12 he's not fully self harming in the way anyone 15+ would..

You're under 12 years old? If he is too, I think maybe it's just a phase he's going through, surely something couldn't be so bad to make someone who's hardly matured to cause themself harm?

1. He may have a girlfriend/Boyfriend.. (never know)
2. You shouldn't label yourself.
3.age is a huge thing... and anyone who says other wise is ignorant.
4.Your mum should be worried if he does all that stuff you said he does.

Good liuck ]

Bear in mind that "emo" isn't the teenage trend, it's actually completely different. Anyone with the silly hair who likes to cut themselves is quite simply, a buffoon.

Stay the hell away. Wait until you mature before you try for any relationships, i mean, you a guy who self harms and is always depressed is NOT good at all.

Well, if you want him to be dragging your mood down all the time because he's depressed, go for it, but tell him to get some help...

I can't see the point in emo's cutting them selves and being depressed all the time? Is it some sort of latest trend that is popular with this day and age of teenagers? I certainly wouldn't class it as some sort of trend. A badly spread virus is a word that would suit this cult well indeed.

I don't think it is trendy to cut yourself, but to be honest I never would have ever thought of cutting myself if I was ever depressed until I heard about the whole emo thing (not saying I do now because it's completely stupid). If I'm really annoyed or depressed, best thing to do is take it out on a stress ball or punching bag or something. It relieves stress and it doesn't cause yourself harm. Really, how is hurting yourself going to make problems go away, when it just causes more?

This emo 'trend' is by far one of the worst ever trends for sure.

I couldn't agree any less.

Why people turn out to be emo's is a question that i really would like the answer to.

By the way listening to Slipknot doesn't make you an emo, Slipknot are metal, far from the emo genre of music.

Misawa

There is no emo genre of music. Emo is a word to coined in the '80s to describe BANDS that gave heartfelt live performances. The modern trend IS NOT, I repeat NOT emo. It had NOTHING to do with clothes, hair, self-harming, or anyone except MUSICIANS' LIVE PERFORMANCES. Something kids these days need to understand.

Emo has became a genre of music, as has indie.

Well Yes It Clearly Does. If you think standing around hugging is a serious relationship, which at 12 you do, then your clearly mistaken. Lemme guess, he also has long hair and wear's a wool hoodie around school?

Your 12. Don't waste your time.

Why do you care? You're 11 and sound pretty naive and he is talking to you about a girl he likes. So in other words, He's Just Not That In To You (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1001508/).

To be honest, you seem too immature to be in a proper relationship anyway.

You say he doesn't cut him self properly. Is he one of those people who claim to be emo who "slit their wrists" but really slit the fleshy bit at the top of his arm?
