There's no main reason to this thread, I just ponder every now and then the internet speeds that some people are getting, this may also please other people's curiousity of other members' internet speeds. I also thought this could make a good discussion topic. :P I'll post mine up soon, just on my way out so I can't do it now but I will! :D

Post up! :D

I have a method that allows bypassing of the 10Mbps down and 2Mbps up cap though, allowing the full port speed, so all is good :).

Jitter is the time variation of a periodic signal in electronics and telecommunications, often in relation to a reference clock source (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jitter)

And IE crashes half way through ping test, lol:S

Jitter

Once you understand ping, jitter should also make sense. Jitter is merely the variance in measuring successive ping tests. Zero jitter means the results were exactly the same every time, and anything above zero is the amount by which they varied. Like the other quality measurements, a lower jitter value is better. And while some jitter should be expected over the Internet, having it be a small fraction of the ping result is ideal.

http://www.pingtest.net/result/4011214.png

BT Speedtester:
Download speedhttp://www.speedtester.bt.com/images/help.jpgachieved during the test was - 1091 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedshttp://www.speedtester.bt.com/images/help.jpg is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps

and this ladies and gentleman, is signs of congestion on o2 Home Access (BT IPStream package). Which has been going for well over a year now and still no sign of a fix. Thumbs up o2!

Because some people don't have access to servers which will give them a 22mbps speed, so unlike others they can't flaunt around their uber fast speed. Perhaps there is some sort of scoring they do where they take ping time into consideration, but you cannot go by the speeds it gives you as accurately as they'd like you to believe, charles!1111

Nick, I thought you had 100 each way?

I have access to 100 each way, but in my room it's CPU limited. Technically we're only allowed 10 down and 2 up, but me and a flatmate discovered a way to get around it. Unfortunately Putty only seems single threaded for me, so my CPU is "maxed" at 25% as it's only using one thread, so one core. If it could use more threads I could do 100Mbps. This is for the decryption as we're using SSH.

My flatmate somehow manages to get ~85-90Mbps though and his CPU is doing more than 25% :S.

If you don't have close access to a fast server then there's no point in having fast interwebs anyway since you cant use the bandwidth in the first place.
