Saw this thread on the escapist and thought it might be interesting! By hard drives I mean internal, external, ssds, usb flash drives, sd cards, magic beer cans, anything nameable!

My USB thumb drives are called Mushroom 3 and 4. My first one was called Mushroom (abbreviation of magic mushroom, it didn't fit) and when I got another that was called mushroom 2. I lost those 2 and got some more from play.com and called the mushroom 3 and 4.

I have 5 partitions accross my 3 internal hdds, there's Windows XP, Windows 7, Ubuntu, Storage and Windows7point1. The last one is because I was running the windows 7 RC and installed the RTM on another partition but never bothered to move the data over so now I have both :P

All my computers are called Norman for no real reason :D

I have one hard drive named and if no one has seen my desktop backgrounds with my hard drives showing then it’s called "The Porno Drive". This used to be my External until I made it an internal. All the others are default names such as: "Local Disk". Although I have named my computer: THEGARNER. :P

Hard drive just called C:// creativity there*+*+

When I get an external I may name it. Though, my USB pen drive's called Store 'N' Go, cause of the preinstalled syncing app on it.

None of my hard disks are named (yet), but my USB sticks are named. One is Fiat256Mb (a promotional Fiat one), Advent512Mb (you can tell where this is going, can't you?), and my SanDisk U3 is called.... Yeah, Sandisk U3.

What real reason is there to encrypt a drive? Do you have top secret government information about the next top secret catnip or something? :P

Yeah. I do intent on putting it back to normal at some point as I'm getting rather board of typing a 20+ character password to access my stuff. Just need the motivation to start decrypting :(.

While encrypting a hard drive on a desktop is really only of purpose, typically, if you want to hide something from someone, there is actually a real purpose to encrypting hard drives in laptops. Actually, I'd strongly recommend you encrypt the hard drive in your laptop if you ever take it out of the house as you'd be surprised how much personal information could be on there. I'm sure you would not want that kind of information falling into the wrong hands if your laptop was stolen, hence why you should encrypt it.

There's a great video on youtube of someone making a weighted companion cube out of wood (I think it was wood), they put their cat inside it and everything its well funny :D I'll see if I can find the link to it.

Companion cube appreciated thread ftw :D
