If you used half a brain you would realise I think the same thing about touch screens atm.

Touch screens are over priced at present time.

And iMac's have been rip off's for years.

He originally asked out of the two, and out of the two computers I would get an iMac.

Sorry that you feel that my post is breaking the rules, although other people were suggesting the same thing. I was agreeing with the other people who suggested the same thing because he could choose that as the 3rd option. Since he did either want the iMac or the touch screen PC with Windows but if he then decided to build his first computer then the people within the section/thread could have helped with the parts. So it was more expanding the options then a pointless post.

If you had used Windows 7 you would have known that Touchscreen usage is now very nice and Microsoft is puting a big push into it.

And iMacs don't do anything more that a PC can do.

Why not go custom build? Touchscreen is cool, but it's just a novelty item at the end of the day and an iMac, well, that's obvious :P If all else fails, you could just get a Zoostorm PC from ebuyer, and buy a new graphics card ontop of it and you've got a pretty decent PC (it's what my brother did at least).

Have you used either Windows 7 or OS/X by any chance?

I haven't used one of these HP Touch Screen computers yet so I can't really give you a fair recommendation. I can imagine you starting to get bored of touching the screen, physically tired in your arms and upper body and wishing you didn't spend so much for a feature that you hate using. As for the iMac, well... it's an iMac! I made the switch from Windows to Mac a month or 2 ago and holy mother of God it's unbelievable. Not all people stay with Mac after they have made the switch but most do. Like the guy at PC World said when I was purchasing my iMac; "Once a Mac you never go back", he couldn't of been more right for me. :P

Apple have software called "iWork" which is basically the Apple version of Microsoft Office. Which you can find more information about here: http://www.apple.com/iwork/

Although, if you really like Microsoft Office then there is "Office:Mac" which is Microsoft's version for Apple Macs. :)

I've just tried Open Office now and it ran fine. It's not slow at all. It's probably because it's written in Java and therefore using a vm that they're able to use the same code and make everything feel pretty native on different platforms.

And don't diss Java. Google is working wonders with it with the GWT and the Android SDK.

Again, like everyone else has said, go for a custom built.
I went for a custom built and have yet not regretted it. My brother has a MacBook and honestly (imo) they are a rip off. The specs they give you for your money is disgraceful and your only really paying for the brand names. I went with PC because I'm looking for cheap parts which do the job. I render a lot of HD video so I got a nice quad core for 1/4 of the price it would be in a Mac. I honestly do not see the appeal of a Mac as it does exactly the same as a Windows PC. I personally think the Windows PC does more.
~As for video editing software there is After FX for Mac and I THINK there is a Sony Vegas version for Mac.
I was also clueless at building but it's so easy with some instructions.

Clearly YOU have no idea what you get in a Mac that is better than a PC. Calling them "overpriced pieces of crap" is very lame, and proves a total of nothing. Did you think calling Macs overpriced pieces of crap would aid him on his decision? Or were you looking to cause an (immature) argument? Finding satisfaction in something without reasoning is akin to liking a dictatorship because everything is decided for you. Not really all that good. People need to make choices for themselves, not just go with shiny boxes that look nice. That will lead to the downfall of civilization.

Only idiots buy pre-built computers. You get for more customization and value for money building PC's. I know when I was building my PC I could have chosen thousands of PC cases that are better than Mac's. The whole idea of PC's being hard to build is ridiculous. It's easier than making toast.
Also, professionals don't use iMovie, they used After Effects and other video editing software.
Garage Band isn't the best either, most upcoming musicians I know use Fruity Loops.

P.S.S.S.S. Mac vs PC arguments are boring, same old crap comes up and no-one ever admits they're beaten and its like watching paint dry so I am now leaving this thread and farting on the way out :D

Enjoy xxx

O, Windows 7 rules to keep it on topic. Except my install decided it wanted to be on a different drive and ended up not working at all.

*Removed* PCs don't have style? Look here, looks like style to me.. http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=Lian%20Li

By the way, your grammar is ****, something money cannot fix.

P.S. iMovie? It's like Windows Movie Maker, get over it, it isn't that great.

P.S.S. No professional uses the iLife suite to edit their media. Go do your research.

P.S.S.S. This is coming from a Windows and OS X user.

Its a vile tower.

I dont care about my grammer. This isnt an english exam.

Because I can get one as my parents clearly have the money to get me one and I always get what I wont. I like the idea of ilife as the video editing software looks amazing and the photos and also garageband looks brilliant. Thats why lots of professional use them.

and also, i do find that cool, as macs have something that most pc's do not have. Style.

2) A computer is not all about style, and might I point out many computers look10x better than a mac does? I would rather have variety than the same as every other Mac user.
3) Leave.

Finding satisfaction in something without reasoning is akin to liking a dictatorship because everything is decided for you. Not really all that good. People need to make choices for themselves, not just go with shiny boxes that look nice. That will lead to the downfall of civilization.

Wrong. This is a personal decision which only really affects him.

Hmmm, me thinks my quote in your signature is most useful here. Don't you think? :P

And it's fine like a Mac, but going beyond reason and belittling other peoples counter-arguments by saying "I gets what I want because I has money" and suggesting everyone else is poor, is pretty pathetic, especially after you say nonsense without any meaning.

I got told I was ugly and poor when discussing Windows 7, because apparently I only like it because I can't *apparently* afford a Mac... The person who said it wasn't exactly Mitch Hewer :P
