Yes. The car had a compartment modification for the sniper to rest in, with the barrel eminating from the back of the car. Two people were involved, a kid, who is serving a number of life sentences, and the sniper, who was executed last month.

So how did they even find out he was in a car?

I was only talking about this a couple of days ago, weird it's cropped up on here. Didn't he confess to a priest in the end or something? Then the police got him whilst the older guy and the 17 year old were sleeping in the car.

Confession is supposed to be strictly confidential. I'm pretty sure they can deny information to the police if they heard it from a confession. I don't think the Church would be too pleased with that priest if he did.

Yeah that's what I thought but that's what one site said when I quickly googled, not sure on the truth though. I'm sure someone will enlighten us.

Surely they just put the seats down for the sniper to rest down?

Even if he did confess to a priest, i'd rather the priest tell the police than stay quiet.

Makes you wonder what priests actually know :o

Yeah, I know. I am always interested in things like this. I actually remember when it was on the news although I was quite young at the time.

Ya but what about the hole in the car surely there must have been a major alteration in the car for them to do that

Major alteration as in drill two holes?
It's totally sick what they did, killing people for no reason. Glad at the sentences they received although ideally the kid should have been killed as well. Justice served.

GoldenMerc

Nah, they did something else than just two holes i vaugley remeber reading it.

Black_Apalachi
09-12-2009, 07:24 PM
all they will have had to do is drill the wholes and get rid of the back seats so there's room to lie down. Then a GTA sesh.

Did they kill the people randomly? or was it like a targeted attack

Immenseman
09-12-2009, 08:13 PM
i think it was just random

GoldenMerc
09-12-2009, 08:14 PM
Thats masscre just randomly shooting someone :S he must have had background in the army of something to be able to use it that well i guess.

They killed in areas with "rich people" but other than that 100% random.
The actual shooter had served I think 9-10 years in the army and was an expert marksman. They planned well and were organized; the car modification was only one part of the plan.

They killed cause of anger, greed & revenge. They hated white people and actually wanted $10M for the killings to stop.

The older guy got the death sentence and his accomplice (who also killed) got life without parole

Misawa

He is rotting in a cheap wooden casket, and his accomplice is rotting in jail.

quite a few people are rotting in cheap wooden caskets.. I think they should have just given them both life without parole. They killed the killer, that's just not right and doesn't make them any better.

to be fair, putting him in the cell till he dies is more of a sentence than getting put to your death.

kk.

i thought america was religious, and that 'an eye for an eye and the whole world will go blind' malarkey. either way, i agree that if you murder someone, you should be put to death

Immenseman

yeah. i'd prefer to die than to rot in a cell for the rest of my life.

And?

I remember there was atleast one kill at a petrol station and they dropped a card there. (all i remember without researching it :))

Ahhh I remember watching a big documentary about this, and I can't quite remember how they found him out but it was something so small. I remember it was the media who actually caught the guy, cuz without the co-operation of the media the police wouldn't have caught the guy. They pulled over like every single white van in the area cuz they thought it was the sniper, but it turned out to be a completely different car.

On every crime scene the car was there still, and spotted many times, but they didn't realise it was him because there wasnt anything to link the car until they realised it was his car lol. I mean he's a ******* for doing it but how cunning, he almost brought that area of Washington down to its knees.

He's got a point really. I think its just killing young people is more frowned upon and more controversial than killing a middleaged human being. Dont ask me why, just is.

Because a 13 year old still has there own life a head of them.

Ye but once your 31 you've already lived 1/3 ish of your life. you will most likely have a job and maybe gone uni. unlike a 13 year old whos still at school.

They were caught due to the media releasing the snipers car plate. But the media could have very easily ****** up the entire thing, they got lucky. Both killers were sleeping when SWAT moved in.

were they bums? i mean they slept in there car. surely the guy in the army had money to afford a household. and one had a wife ect.. dont get why they'd sleep in the car

Well they weren't exactly welcome home and they didn't even know they had discovered their car as they were sleeping when it was announced over the local radio stations

i think it wudda been even worse if they shot a news reporter at a scene LIVE.

im not saying it wasn't bad already after what they did.

There's a pretty decent made for television film from 2003 on the events called D.C. Sniper: 23 Days of Fear, with a Forrest Whittaker lookalike in the leading role. I think ITV shows it quite often.
