View Full Version : Asking for rep
Lol well, for starters I don't get why this is a rule but... If it stays as a rule then when it gets edited, it's like basically saying what you just said cus it gets edited saying 'please don't ask for reputation'. It's like editing a post that avoided the filter and saying 'please don't avoide the filter by saying *word*'
thoughts lol

i think there should just be one simple edit such as 'please don't break the rules' for all rules. those who receive an edit would know what they've done wrong because of the PM they receive regarding the rule breaking. in addition, other members don't really need to know that someone has broken a specific rule. an edit which says that they've broken a rule and thats it should be sufficient imo.

It shouldn't even be a rule, if you wanted to it'd be so easy to get around it anyway - Habbo, Console or even PM or rep itself.
Don't think that would always work cus I never got a pm for it
can I ask why it's a rule anyway?

I think the incentive with the moderator edit is so that the person doing so knows they shouldn't in future an anyone thinking of adding reputation pointlessly is reminded that it is also against the rules and may be checked.
Perhaps:
Edited by [Name here] ([title here]): Please do not break rule number [rule number here].

Seriously, it's fine as it is. Now it's Christmas so let's all just enjoy the new server and rejoice :P.
Lols was just letting them know that the rule is stupid when it gets edited with justsying the same thing that the poster said :P

Wonder who reported you *glares at rob* lmaoooo :3
i think it's fine as it is lol
You told him too! >.< you even told me that u did :'(
Personally, I think this rule is pointless, and should be removed for the following reasons:
- Your not harming anybody in asking
- Its not really a bad thing to do
- Members can make their own minds up on weather to rep the user or not.
- If somebody gets into trouble for asking for rep, that's pathetic and really unappealing.

Surely this rule would have applied more when people had massive rep powers and it only took like 4/6 people to rep you before you got your rep power up. I can remember in 2007 bumming people with like 30 rep powers for points and I know that majority of active users then did.
I dont see the issue either with giving rep our pointlessly tbh, when its positive. it encourages people to be nicer, if they just give out random nice reps. I dont see the issue with it, it doesn't effect anybody?

JAKE HAXED ME AND REPORTED U K, KK.?
Tbf I don't think rep is used any way near as much as it used to be anyway. From my own experience, I hardly ever -rep and I'm hardly ever able to +rep because I ALWAYS have to spread. I swear like the about ten of the last dozen times I've tried to rep someone, I wasn't able to.
The spread limit really needs to be decreased because the only thing it is potentially doing is forcing me to pointless rep in order to spread.
There's prob only about 50 active ppl anyway :l

The first 2 are the same thing and the 4th one is just wth? It isn't supposed to be appealing! They don't give you flowers when you break other rules and don't give you flowers when you ask for rep just to make it unappealing.
The rule is there because people put "rep me and i'll rep you back!" in their sig which encouraged pointless repping and made the system a bit pointless. If you knew you were going to get a reward for doing it you're more likely to do it.
