TheSpeedGamers are a group of people who speedrun games for charity.

Details regarding the 72 hour Pokemon Marathon that starts on December 18th at 6 pm cst:
We, TheSpeedGamers, are a group of gamers who play video games to raise money for different causes. We have been a group for nearly two years now and have raised approximately $100,000 for various causes.
Our events typically last 72 hours in which we broadcast ourselves playing video games while also giving commentary. There is a chat room that accompanies the video game feed so that the viewers can interact with the players and each other. Three games will be featured at a time, we will rotate the games being shown. Everything can be viewed on TheSpeedGamers.com.
During the Pokemon marathon we will be raising money for Ally’s House while trying to catch all 493 Pokemon. There will be a counter so that the viewers can keep track of how many Pokemon we have caught.
Donations will be gathered using a chip in widget; debit, credit cards and paypal can be used to donate.
Gaming Rules:

All Pokemon must be caught within TheSpeedGamer’s house, no trades will be done to outsiders,
All pokemon that are only attainable through events only will be pre-loaded onto one of the carts.
Games being played: Fire Red, Leaf Green, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, Pearl.

Additional info:
Our goal will be $15,000. Once we reach $5,000 we will show a trailer made by forum member ggs.cythe that will announce all of our marathons in 2010! The chipin widget will go up Tuesday Dec. 15th.

I personally will be donating to this as I enjoy their speed runs and now I've finally got my debit card sorted lol.

Weirdly, this sounds so awesome! I'd be interested to watch the Leaf Green or Fire Red ones at least. What time is 6pm CST in GMT?

Haha, sounds great. Surely it'll take longer than 72 hours to get all 493 Pokemon though.

They have multiple people playing each game and different shifts. They'll have 2-3 sources on the stream, 1-2 of gameplay and 1 of them in the room playing it.

I remember when they did it before. Will probably watch this if I get bored over the weekend.

Last year they failed, but still got a decent amount of money at the end of it for charity.

The speed gamers is pretty entertaining to watch - last time I saw them, it was a Final Fantasy marathon. They wanted to complete every title in the main series in 7 days I think it was, which was a huge goal considering the PS1 versions take about a day each, and they didn't accomplish it, but it was still entertaining seeing all the Final Fantasys.

I should be tuning into this from time to time too.
