Network interface card. It is more than certainly onboard though. What computer did you purchase (or what motherboard do you have)?

I'd show you the purchase page but its sold out, ive got a disk that says "Motherboard driver CD Foxconn G31".
Do i need to do anything with this CD?

Yeah if you use that CD it should install all the drivers you need.

Aye that would be useful :P Stick it in, run it, do what it tells you to, if you see anything that says "network" or "ethenet" or something funky like that, click it with all your might and it should be all good

I'm amazed it hasn't found out what to do itself :S Is this the PC you get a free Windows 7 upgrade with? :P

Just wondering, but does anything show up in Device Manager? Chances are you could find it in there, and see if it's enabled and/or updated (using built in drivers to work it itself).

Yes, its the free windows 7 upgrade computer.
I've installed my driver, but the internet is still not working? :S

Reset the router then connect again. Always works for whenever I disconnected my laptop :)

Does it connect to the router? I think it's 192.168.2.1 on most, but it varies on make.

How do i find out if it connects to the router?
Ive got a belkin router and im on the admin page now having a look about, but havn't got a clue what any of it means lol.

Ah well, Belkin routers are 192.168.2.1 (type that into Firefox or any browser). OR, you go to your Belkin router and see if it says a wired device is added by looking at the front, or a light shows up near the hole you inserted the cable in at the back (depending on the model) :)

Yes, the number 1 is lit up, which is the hole the ethernet is going into.
But on my screen, its not connecting, just a red cross through the internet sign?

Have you connected an ethernet cable to your computer?

Stephen!

The red cross usually indicates that the NIC isn't connected to anything.

Yes, the number 1 is lit up, which is the hole the ethernet is going into.

Does it still light up when the computer isn't attached?
