Does anyone know the exact date / month and year in which both companies Tesco and Asda started selling stuff on their website in the UK?

Also if you can back it up with a source, it would really help. Thanks.

Have you emailed them? Businesses usually don't mind you asking them questions like this :)

In May 1984. Found it (H).Sounds unlikely since the world wide web wasn't created until the early 90s?

I mis read it as 1994 "/ erm wikipedia are obviously wrong then :S
In May 1984, in Gateshead, England, the world's first recorded online home shopper purchased groceries from her local Tesco store in the world's first recorded online shopping transaction from the home.[71]

But erm "Tesco has operated on the internet since 1994 and was the first retailer in the world to offer a robust home shopping service in 1996. Tesco.com was formally launched in 2000." is the bit I needed :)
