What is the general view to underage people sitting in pubs, more specifically on match days?
I mean yeh i've been in when i was 17 and 16 loads with my uncle but would it be different with a group of lads? See i'm 18, and my other friend is 18, but a couple are 17 and we wanna head to the pub to catch a football match and there a bit worried if theyll be allowed in even to just watch. Baring in mind the pubs are in and around the town centre which may make things a little stricter.

Is it the law? If not then it's fine.

You have to be at least 14 to go into the bar area I think. Obviously you have to be 18 for an alcoholic drink. My granddad use to own a pub and those were the 'rules' then.
They'll be allowed in.
to be honest you go in with your 18 freind and he has ID they'l never ask you..
there losing out on proffit

It might just be the specific pub you're going in. Ask the person behind the bar, it can only be a yes or no. :)
Don't ask, don't get. :)

The law says you are allowed as long as you sit in the lounge rather than the bar (what Hitman said), although pubs these days aren't so traditional with their layout. You probably need to be more worried about the pub's own policy tbh. I was in them from as young as I can remember but a gang of teenagers are the least likely to be let in.
If you do get in without attracting attention, you should be OK as long as you stay quiet. If you're rowdy or messing about you'll probably be kicked out. And regarding what Soy said, if they ID any of you, they'll ID you all.
it'll be fine if a couple of you are 18, if it's a busy matchday you may get away with being able to go to the bar for them.

Wrong, unless it's poor bar staff. I always ID everyone I think is underage regardless of who their with.

Alot of pubs now have banned anyone from under 18 from going into the pub, the pub I work in allow under 18's until 9PM. We have 2 bars in my pub, one for familys/dinning area and the other for 18+ only.

The recession is helping the pub trade. Being able to drink at 17 on match days is down to rubbish bar staff.

Went into walkabout and had no problem, bouncers said nothing and i think they were only there in case of trouble. That being said nobody asked for ID off any of us so maybe the bouncers just didn't do their job.

most bars ive been to (pubs and bars) will serve you as long as the person that buys all the pints (3 at most) is 18.

Yeah it's different from pub to pub. Quite a few ask us all for ID whenever we go for a few drinks. End up having to buy one at a time and then slying the drinks.

only really ran into trouble when we stupidly tried one of us to get 6 pints ahahaa
I think if they're under 18 they have to be out by like 10pm.
