Hello,

Was wondering if anyone off there heads had some suggestions for the easiest/most effective solution for multiple monitors under ubuntu - this is with 2 screens of differing size and the latest ubuntu distribution

Thanks for any advice :)

Well plug them in then I think it automatically makes them split screen or mirrors both screens. You then have to go to Display settings and adjust them.

You don't really need software to make it work. Just make sure your have your graphics card drivers installed (NVIDIA have linux ones, not sure about ATi).
