WELCOME TO

http://portgalaxy.com/images/PortGalaxyLogo.png

http://portgalaxy.com/images/PortShip.png
Port Galaxy is my upcoming MMOCC/IMCE based in outer-space, which is fully funded. Port Galaxy is the main central Space Port located in the Milky Way Galaxy. "People" from all over the galaxy arive at the space port everyday, meeting new friends, trading with merchants, and having fun experiences! The space port also has Infinite living quarters, using space-age technology!

The website & forums are now online, however these will be getting a major upgrade over the next week! The game is being developed in rich quality graphics, and will include many animations. Also- for the future, many special features are being planned. These will include mini-games, space tours, and the rest will be kept a surprise for now.

Below, I will update my progress with Development (for the Beta).
- Planning/Pre-Production / 90% (Leaving room for changes)
- Graphical Production / 10%
- Programming / 5%

Thankyou for you're interest!

Hmm... nobody has shown any interest in this project from Habboxforum. This game is fully funded, and is going to be similar to VMK, YoVille, and of course Habbo Hotel. The unique features that are planned in regards to mini-games and events are going to make this game OUT OF THIS WORLD! (yes, thats a cliche)

We currently have three ships in the Fail Fleet, you can either board our 'Fail Cargo ship' or our 'Failtanic'. And lastly the latest in the fail fleet...

Wow you can post an internet cliché. I commend you. The "fail boat" comments are totally unnecessary. The game has a solid concept which sets it away from the likes of Habbo and Second life and judging by the image in the first post it has great graphics too. Just because there are a fair few "wannabe Habbos" going around it doesn't mean all MMOCC's can be branded the same and in this case I don't think it can.

Well done to PortGalaxy and good luck!

EVE Online

Eve online is a downloadable game that you have to pay for, it's a huge difference. Look at World of Warcraft and Runescape, they both have the same core concept and yet they both co-exist. The point is that lightweight browser games are in a totally different market to downloadable games and currently there is no "Space MMOCC dominance" in browser based games even if some exist.

That's the only image I have found

Indeed but that's only because its early in development, there is always going to be a first public image. The image itself shows that they have money to fund the project unlike with many other MMOCCs and that they are willing to put in the time to make it a polished final product.

You are correct :) We have a good budget for developing this MMOCC, while most other MMOCC's are developed using very little to no money. Just to clarify, this game is not being developed by a 15 year old who plays Habbo Hotel. This is being developed by a team of professionals, and is managed by a private company. I am simply posting about the game on this forum, because I think some of you might find it interesting.

Looking at the image it doesn't quite interest me, but that's because looking at the image it's a space game I think which I don't quite like.

I wish you the best of luck with this project, and just ignore the haters. :)

I doubt you've played Eve online, its vastly different from both. Also technically you can pay for eve online with in game money.

I have played Eve Online actually and I have no idea what you are saying it's different from. I suggest you re-read my post before criticising it. Eve is only free for 14 days and then you have to pay for it, for the average user at least.

PortGalaxy

If I am correct, EVE Online (as well as most scifi/space MMO's) does not allow you to create an avatar. It is not a virtual world. I may be wrong though.

The first room preview of Port Galaxy can be found exclusively at www.portgalaxy.com/forums (http://www.portgalaxy.com/forums).

You can buy PLEX (30 Day Pilot's License Extension) for ingame ISK. Also its vastly different in the way you don't "level up", you actually have to wait real time for your skills to complete which makes it stand out (depending on your views, in a bad or good way) from other MMORPGs. Which to me is the core idea behind the game (You don't play to just run around do you? :P)

True enough. My game is really more of a virtual world or chatting community, although it is going to have unique features, so it could probably be calssified as other types of games as well. One of the main parts is going to be competing with other users via event-based minigames.

Your website doesn't work for me. I'm sorry but I don't believe a word your saying :/ The graphics don't even look that inviting? It's like.. woah Look at me, I live in a library and I'm going to go home and play port galaxy whilst reading up on shakespeare. You're aiming at the wrong market, and stop coming accross so formal, you're making a fool of yourself xD Just my opinion, but I always speak my opinion.

..Thats fine, except you are clearly judging both myself and the game without any knowledge of who I am or what the game is about. Wait and see. Also, the website does work. Plus, the new website isn't uploaded yet, the default pages you see are being replaced. Oh, and the wrong market? Hmm. for some reason I thought this was a forum full of people who played online games.

The website looks really good just needs more work on it but remember he did say it's a upcoming game so there's still more to be done. I'm sorry but what do you mean by you don't believe a word he's saying, why would he lie? He's not doing this to waste his time on sad people like you who probably go home and play habbo whilst reading up on shakespeare because you're queer. The graphics look fine to me, I can't say much about habbo either. I think he is aiming at the right market here, here we are on a habbo forum he's just advertising don't get ahead of yourself everyone advertise a load of crap on here. Plus, you opinion sucks, so don't share it next time because no one cares.

Ignore some of the losers on this forum that jump on the bandwagon of hate.

Personally I feel the game hs potential, if advertised correctly and aimed at the correct people, you could do well.

Love the look of it, probably not my cup of tea - but still look's very impressive :)

Loving the generic unmodified $15 skin and the coming soon page that looks like it took 3 minutes to create.

At least begin hyping and promoting once you actually have some morsel of a game to promote.

He's not a web developer, he's a game developer. Plus he did say he has a new template but hasn't uploaded it.

Yeah, seriously... The new website has not been uploaded yet, I am waiting on my programmer still. The coming soon page was created in 3 minutes. The intro page does not load properly. The forum has a $20 template, not $15. After all of that, I don't see any problems. If you actually took the time to see the previews and read about the game rather then just criticizing some meaningless webpage that I have already explained, maybe then you would be less rude. Probably not though.

I'll say it one more time - THE NEW WEBSITE IS NOT ONLINE YET. You are correct in your statement that I should probably have advertised when the new website was in place, however I see things differently. People who join the forum and go to my website are interested in A GAME, not my web design skills. If you did any research on other games in development you would see that their websites are also poor looking.

Now, if you don't like the sounds of this game, if you don't like what you see, just leave this thread and stop posting spam. If you post constructive criticism then that is fine, just enough with the rude remarks and pointless insults.

Maybe some of you should wait until this game is actually past the first week of development to judge it. Wait and see the finished product.

This is only one room. It may be a little too dark, or perpahs it is the brightness on your monitor. It looks pretty good on my computer. Other rooms are going to be bright, however they are in space and its fairly dark.

how long has this been in development?
what is it being coded in?

PortGalaxy
23-01-2010, 07:26 AM
I have been planning the development of the game for over a year and a half now. Development started just a few weeks ago. I know some people argue that it dosn't take that long to plan a game however, that is from the time I thought of the idea, to the time I was ready to start producing the game. The client is being developed in flash.
