In this two minute video, you're introduced to Desi Cryer [his name is visible on the name tag], "black" guy [he call himself black, Ed.] who purchased an HP laptop for Christmas - intended for his wife. However, his plan of surprising his wife for Christmas with the newest HP laptop went astray due to a "Face tracking" software glitch.

Well, as you can see on a video - that is not the case here; HP's bundled software is simply not recognizing Desi's face. But when his white coworker shows in the screen, camera picks up her face without a glitch and simply tracks it - the software works like a charm.

LMAO that is funny but harsh at the same time. It must be something to do with the lighting in the background and the surrounding objects.

Most recognition things don't work for black people, Project Natal didn't work for most of the black journalists at e3.

That's because Project Natal was an empty box at e3.

Awww, is that what they're calling it? Racism? Bless :P It's not HPs fault that technology doesn't recognise dark tones and colours, digitial cameras and any sort of visual technology is equally as "racist" in comparison, though smile shutter probably works quite well :/ The tech just needs enhancing so it focuses more when something dark is put in its place, digital cameras have been doing this for years - recognising different colours, lights and tones, so all this needs is the same treatment.

Video was funny. However I think this comment is disgusting:

Just a wake up call for black people. Yeah, we have a (half) black president, but the computer companies aren't happy with that, ergo the failed face tracking. There are lots of other businesses out there who aren't happy about Obama as well, and black people will pay for it. Black peeps, head over to Denny's and TRY to order a Grand Slam. Nuff said

It's more ignorant and damn right stupid than disgusting imo :/ It's disgusting indeed, but it's laughable and how failed the logic is :P

LOL, that made me lol.

Nice find anyways, it's just bad luck that the cameras don't pick up dark tones etc. :)

It's a bit odd that just having the black guy barely entering frame completely disabling face tracking? Surely it should continue tracking the woman?
