Hey People,
Today I had the urge to watch the Fantastic 4, I watched both 1 and 2 and I throught the end of 2 was left for a 3rd. I have looked on the internet for any further information and found somewhat of a slip Jessica Alba would love to shot a 3rd movie and has said there shall be a 3rd, but due to the writes strick it has been put on hold. But fellow cast member Chris Evens said "I'm pretty sure we won't do another one," and thats he is happy to walk away now. Does this mean it is the end to the Fantastic four movies??? I was wonder would you want to see another???

Both films were pretty terrible, but yes, there is going to be a new film in the series, but it was only announced this year, so it'll be released most likely in the summer of 2011 or perhaps even 2012.

I thought the first one was crap so I didn't watch the second nor do I know anything about the series. I'm guessing it would be pretty inevitable for a third to be made though.

The next one will be a reboot of the 'franchise'.

Damn Hollywood run out of ideas more than Cheryl Cole runs out of clothes.

I didn't mind the Fantastic Four films, but they're hardly popular. I heard the producers were considering rebooting the franchise.

rebooting the franchise after 2 films is kinda lame

Indeed. I also heard rumours of a Spider-man reboot if Tobey Maguire didn't sign on for the next one. I wouldn't be surprised if they do reboot the franchise after he leaves, seeing as how much money the movies make.

Yeah Spiderman 4 is set to come out in 2011, with filming set to begin in March 2010. They're also doing a spin-off film set for release in 2012 called Venom.

Spider-man 4 isn't a reboot, its a sequel to Spider-man 3. Tobey Maguire has already signed on, as have Kirsten Dunst and Sam Raimi. Also while we're on the topic of spin-offs, a movie titled 'Silver Surfer' is aparrently in development. It's obviously a Fantastic Four spin-off centering on the Silver Surfer, but no news has been heard about it since its announcement. The proposed release date is 2012. Also, if they go ahead with the Venom spin-off I hope they don't cast Topher Grace. He was terrible as Venom in Spider-man 3.

There set to make Spider man 4, 5 and 6.
Lots of marvel spin off are being made for over the next 3/4 years. Such as Magneto, Gambit, Venom and Deadpool.

Most of them are balancing on development hell.

The problem is most people don't know the characters. Making a film based on the main characters of these comic books is grand, but when they start trying to do the same for minor characters, it just becomes lazy.

Can we blame Disney for this? :eusa_ange

A lot of the films were already in 'production' before Disney took over. :P

The point is, with minor characters they have no limitations from the comics as little to no history is provided and thus they could create a rich, exciting background. I'd love to see magneto, I wouldn't define him as a minor character, and he has some background info provided already, but not much cast iron info.

The Execs don't want to create exciting backstories, that's my point.
