View Full Version : Question for rare value reporters...

Not moaning here, just wondering -
When the black chair was released for 60 (dunno exact time) seconds yesterday (and the other stuff too), Habbox had labelled a value on it within a very small amount of time.
What I don't understand is... How can you value an item minutes after release?
A value needs time to stabilize? I mean.. look - it's already over double the value listed in the values in the Marketplace.
So just wondering - How did you judge it so accurately in the minutes you had after it was released AND retired? Surely it needs time for you to analyse the value and wait for the hype to die down??
Thanks

Hi,
We waited for quite a period until we got a value which was being widely traded, and I had people on my list who were selling them also providing values, along with that I was in trade rooms all yesterday watching them. The chairs were at first going for 1.0 CS per, but then as it happened they steadily went down to the 0.7 CS mark of which they are valued at now. If we felt we didn't have enough evidence/trades to add it then we would of just put it at n/a as were some other items that day put at, however the Black Chair was by far the most common and easy to gather a value for, hence why we managed to get a value very fast.
These were never going to be high in price as many of you thought, thousands of Habbos were watching the catalogue and thousands were bought, they are probably even more common than some other misc rares which are on sale for weeks at a time. On the marketplace, that isn't alwways to be trusted and I just checked then and one was on sale for 8 C.

I never expected it to ever reach a high price, infact I am not even saying that the current value is 'wrong' - but I think it was way, way too fast to value it correctly.
You had people trying to flog them immediately to make a quick profit ready for the next release, people trying to knock the price down on them because they didn't buy one and you had the people who missed the release trying to snipe them..
The hype has died down now, so maybe this would have been a better time to analyse the value...

Thats how trading works, thats how values move. As I said before, if we don't feel we have enough evidence on a rare then we'll leave at n/a or won't even add it, but we did see enough and even you yourself admitted the value was correct, so I don't see the problem really.
We mirrored the value it was going for in the trade rooms and afterall thats our job, people still paid the same as the main job of Habbox is to help people who don't know all the values/rares off by heart not get scammed, as i'm sure that if we wouldn't of added them for the price they were going for, people would of been able to make some good profit out of people who had no idea they had been released/weren't worth much at all.

If it was to prevent scams then a news article should have been published
And I do understand what you mean by "that's how trading works" , but we all know that it's much more prominent and flexible during and shortly after the release - the "hype". It did not have time to stabilize.
But hopefully and undoubtedly you'll carry on analysing the item (and all the others), so it should soon become an accurate value
Thanks

Habbo had an article which stated that there would be various special releases from 10am-10pm.

http://www.habbox.com/index.php/rare-values/all-values#I can't copy the images for some reason, but the Black Chair is a leather chair which looks like a computer chair, thats the super one. The Small black chair is the small chair which is rounded and looks like a Neon Bar Stool but recoloured (which it basically is) - thats a misc.
Check Habbox or Habborator for pictures. :)
